Anyone know any Western or Australian Books made into anime?

I've have always heard of novels made into anime series, but most of the books that are made into anime originated from China, Japan, or Korea. An example would be Brave Story. But recently I heard of a fantasy novel series called Deltora Quest that was made into an anime series.

So I was just wondering: are there any other American, European, African, or Australian books made into an anime series.

Also, please forgive me if this thread is off the writing, music, or art topic.

Maybe, but I know of two offhand:

Howl's Moving Castle (novel by Diana Wynn-Jones)

Starship Troopers (novel by Robert A Heinlein)

Oh, and there is a series based on Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple books.
