My exam results came in a few weeks ago. And I got straight A's. The thing is I keep thinking to myself do I deserve this? What if they made a mistake? How could they not have noticed? Is it a type-o? My target was to get straight A's and I did. I made a lot of sacrifices and here I am. And yet I feel numb. I literally can't believe I'm here now. I'm neutral is what I feel. Has anyone else felt like this?

I've often felt like that before. When I got high grades, at one point I thought, "Perhaps the teachers are just telling me I'm just getting high grades to keep me happy." And all I did was panic too much and stress myself out.

My advice: try not to feel so neutral or negatively about this. It may be an Aspie perfectionism trait, but be optimistic about what you've achieved. Straight As are exceptional - you have to think to yourself, "How many other people have achieved this?" and think of other statements that push up your optimism.

Perhaps you could reward yourself with a meal or something. By the way, what qualifications are these?

I'll be announcing my GCSE results on here when I receive them.

It's always easier to stay motivated when you're working towards a goal. Problem is sometimes that when people reach a goal they find that it wasn't what it was cracked up to be.
This is normal. It's safe to say that just about everyone has gone through this at one time or another. The feeling of "Now What".

To me, the best cure for this is to find another goal, whether the goal happens to be personal or professional and go after it. Your goal may be something that will help you at your job, possibly picking up another language, or new computer skills. Or it could be something like breaking a 4 minute mile, or being able to take your dream vacation. When you accomplish your new goal, you'll feel a profound satisfaction.

SEVEN?! 8O That would be a lot of hard and stressful work! I'm sticking to four.

Straight As at AS level is excellent and if you continue that into the second year, you'll stand a very good chance of going to university. So well done. :)

I'll be starting my AS levels in September. What subjects did you choose?

I chose:

English
Mathematics
Physics
Chemistry
Media Studies

I was also going to choose:

Biology
Psychology
(Or Human Biology but I chose Biology since thats what most go for. In the end even that was unavailable)

Interesting combination. I'm doing Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Geography. For Year 13 I may consider swapping Geography with Further Maths.

The thing that really bothers me is that in my fourth year of high school I got

5 A's
1 B
and 2 C's.

How on earth did I get straight A's?

The results of exams can sometimes be difficult to predict. Later exams will even have more surprises. It was a bit of a disappointment for me sometimes, but I learned to live with it...

Well it's possible that the College environment simply allows you to reach your full potential while High School did not.
