I love industrial music and its many subgenres. My favourite artists include but arent limited to:
Front 242, DAF, And One, Throbbing Gristle, Skinny Puppy, Project Pitchfork, Xotox and DRP.
Does anyone here like these?
Most people think Nine Inch Nails is Industrial, I class it as alternative rock with an industrial influence.

ive defiantly seen some of those names around here but i only listen to Einstürzende Neubauten and a bunch of "industrial metal" so i cant comment too much

but with regards to NIN it seems that as an non mainstream style of music gets bigger the more media, record labels and people who just plain dont know what it is itch to use the name

I love industrial and EBM, but I can't say I'm much of a fan of the older stuff - I can appreciate how they influenced a lot of newer artists, but in general, compared to a lot of the newer artists, the standard of production was pretty dire IMO.

Skinny Puppy definitely.

Also as far as alternative rock as you put it with industrial influences; I do like Ministry from about the same timeframe that I like'd SP's stuff (ie. 1988 - 1991 maybe?), Pop Will Eat Itself, and yeah, I do like older NIN though I've always liked the remix cds even better than the originals.

On another note I had a friend try to get me into some of the stuff she's familiar with (I think this is the EBM'ish edge) - ie. Psyclon 9, Funker Vogt, I couldn't really get into it - liked some of the Hocico (sp?) she put on there but just because it was somber; I don't like this kind of stuff bight and trancy, which a lot of what I've been exposed to out of the newer stuff just sound like someone growling over trance. I think if I want something dancy I'll stick with Adam Beyer, Steve Stoll, Plastikman, T-1000; all that's more my pace ;).

I like KMFDM, Skinny Puppy, and Ministry. I like Rammstein too, but they're more like Industrial/Rock.

I suck at placing bands in genres, but I LOVE industrial as a whole. KMFDM is possibly one of my favoritest bands ever. Of course I say that of many bands, heh. I guess I'm more into the newer-type stuff, VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, Funker Vogt, etc.. I know they're not necessarily exclusively industrial but you get the idea. Really I love almost anything with a good hard beat and interesting lyrics! I like music from all over the spectrum, but industrial is my main love.

For example... I'm listening to Cobra Starship right now. Hah! How's that for ecclectic??

YES.

Though NIN does have cred, and not just because Reznor's 90s style was a total imitation of 80s Nivek Ogre. :) Trent was also an early member of the supergroup Pigface, along with Ogre, Ministry's Martin Atkins, Bill Rieflin and Al Jourgensen, Chris Connelly, plus Black Francis, FM Einheit (Einsturzende Neubauten), En Esch (KMFDM), Gunter Schulz (KMFDM), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Genesis P-Orridge (Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV), Shonen Knife, plus members of My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, Rollins Band, FLA, The Orb, Nitzer Ebb, Tool++++.

By the way, did anyone else see this article in Radar magazine, about how Genesis P-Orridge was trying to engage in a piece of "performance art" with his wife, wherein they both obtained successive plastic surgeries in order to look more like one another? Unfortunately, she died in the process.

Didn't become a fan until a basket weaver by the name of Till Lindemann got all his friends together and created a band. Made a song about a famous German airshow disaster and after wards showed the world that he and all the band members had balls.

I like the heavier side of industrial music, Godflesh, Ministry, Prong and Faith No More's 'Angel Dust' (which was heavily influenced by the industrial) and some Depeche Mode stuff and an early 90s band called Sheep on Drugs (but not sure if they could have been classed industrial) but a lot of the more hardcore industrial bands I have always found very difficult to get into.

Ever heard anything from Scorn? The first Scorn album Vae Solis is well worth hearing for people who like the early Godflesh material.

Heard of Scorn but never listened to them. Might check 'em out.
Cheers

I like Skinny Puppy and kinda like some Thrill Kill kult, maybe a little Ministry. I'm pretty picky about old industrial because the aged sound irks me. I prefer newer industrial, like Combichrist or Angelspit. Overall though I prefer industrial rock (like NIN, Marilyn Manson, Orgy, Zeromancer) or industrial metal (Rammstein, Hanzel und Gretyl, Mushroomhead, Marazene, Turmion Kätilöt....) and synthy gothic (Diary of Dreams, Blutengel, Cruxshadows, Helium Vola, Blaqk Audio, She Wants Revenge, E Nomine, L'ame Immortelle, Birthday Massacre, etc.)
