Hello!

I am a doctoral student currently doing pre-dissertation research on Aspergers Syndrome. I have a background as a behavior specialist with developmental disabilities and dozens of cases of Aspergers Syndrome in particular. I am currently on assignment for a Psychological Assment course to give a cognitive intelligence test to a child under age 16. My preference is to test someone I know has Aspergers Syndrome as knowing how their strengths and weaknesses are measured by standardized tests will greatly assist in my future research with this population. The testing process will take approximately three hours including background history interviews.

Los Angeles area parents or guardians of children with Aspergers Syndrome are encouraged to reply ASAP with availability and we'll go from there!

Thank You!

I am in L.A. but honestly why would we put our children through "tests" especially for 3 hours....I don't mean to sound rude but I know my Vlad has gone through tons of test for his therapys & services. (please don't hang me...to each his own)

Most of my responses have been from parents who desire to see a greater future understanding of Aspergers Syndrome. I know many children who have been diagnosed have been tested to receive services, unfortunately those results are not available to the public. In order for me to synthesize strengths and weaknesses as they appear on standardized tests that are used to place your children, I need to know how children with Aspergers test and if there's anything unique that can differentiate them from other special needs populations. Though I agree that your Vlad may be "tested out", there are plenty of parents who want a psychological understanding of those with Aspergers, and for that to happen, testing also needs to be completed for a more universal purpose (outside simply educational placement for an individual student.)
