Furthuring from my earlier topics, I am now convinced of AS on my father's side of the family after talking about it with my parents in depth for the first time.

My cousin (fathers brothers son) is identical to me with regards to needing space, social problems and obsessions (he is into music, a DJ studying law at university).

My father and grandfather had social problems for a number of years (according to my mother).

My mother and her friends noticed I was different from all other children, starting from between age 2-4 years old.

I have temporal lobe epilepsy (co-morbid it seems).

My uncle also has obsessions and seems very 'urgent' and 'this is it!' when talking to you about his projects and obsessions.

My father stims, has obsessions like me, talks very straightforward and honest, and my mum told me that he would never understand sarcasm or subtlety when he was a young man, just like me. He took everything very literally.

I've isolated the cause at last and (even if it's for my own peace of mind and self-analytical reasons) have convinced myself of the root cause and the simple fact that my self-diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome is correct.

*a sigh of relief at conclusion being reached*

It's good to talk!

Cheers,

Torak.

Edit: spelling mistakes.

It could be entirely the temporal lobe eplisey. . . . .

I'm a off-the-books temporal lobe epletptic. . . .A lot of very AS things can happen with it. Not always, but it is possible. . .

The doctor who treats himself has a fool for a patient.
Best to check with a psychiatrist or check into psychological testing.

That's a bit harshly put, but it stands true.

If you can find a good psychiatrist or psychologist who specialises in AS via the NHS, then please let us all know!
