The ones I do are clicking my watch clasp (I was doing this while talking to my sister and she said stop (I didn't even know I was doing it.) Does anyone else not know they are stimming. I also like clicking a pen. I've read we do it to releive stress but I wasn't stressed while talking to my sister. I also bite my knuckle (I've done it so much it now itches as if a Mosquito bit it) I also like having a pen in my mouth sometimes. What are your stims? (I was hoping for stuff besides pacing or rocking back and forth I've heard those alot but thought there had to be alot of different ones than those although those are what I hear about the most.) :-)

Let's see. I click pens. I rub my hand up and down on my leg (the texture on the jeans is so calming). I sometimes jerk my arm when it is hanging, like I'm trying to shake the stress out of it. I tap myself with my fingers. I pace (though I don't know if that counts). And my fingers look like they're playing the piano sometimes. I rub my bottom lip. And I bite the space between my thumb and index finger.
About half the time I'm not aware I'm doing it. Fortunately my stuff is pretty subtle.

I rub my upper arms, rub my fingers together, or slip my foot out of its shoe and rub it against the shoe or my other foot. I also rub my thumb across my lips. Usually I know I'm doing it, but sometimes not.

When I was a child, I would rub the satin edge of my blankie across my mouth. My mother would yell at me to get it out of my mouth. I would tell her it wasn't in my mouth, it was on my mouth -- I was just feeling it. I couldn't understand why that would make her even more mad at me.

I fiddle with my keys. But obsessively, in a repeated motion. I'll rub my thumb over a ridge in my pants over and over again. I have very short hair and will run my hand over the back of my hair.

It depends on the situation. If I can get my hands on something I can't help myself from messing with it in a repetitive way.

I also pull at my eyebrows and eyelashes. Sounds strange, I know.

Can't think of anything else right now (playing with pens, oh yes. Playing with my medic alert bracelet, constantly...

But in stressfull situations (really bad) I'll hand flap. I also play with the remote control buttons over and over again.

I wring my hands, sometimes very quickly. People either think it is a sign of nervousness or that I'm cold. I also rub my hands along my jawline.

I knock my fists together.....or shake both of my clenched fists together....I flap my feet....

um.....dunnow....there's alot....

I also have vocal stims....little strings of nonsense that I repeat over and over.....

Swaying when standing (more often than not, no matter if I'm around people or not; take that Attwood/Wing!)
rocking when sitting (as above as of lately)
flapping my hands, usually my left one near my head, or both in-front of me
curling my hands up and holding them against my torso
moving my head side to side
hand-wringing/twirling (I do this when I talk to people)
leg bouncing
nail/skin picking
head banging (the car window is the best for such...)
hitting stuff (trees work the best)
opening and closing a lighter/pocketknife

Pretty much all of them except toe-walking.

I also have the "motor mannerisms in relation to an interest", i.e., going through with the hand movements of reloading an invisible 1911 for example, over and over again.

Some very interesting stims. :-) Glad to know I'm not the only one that doesn't notice them. :-)

I have a few, I do a lot of things my fingers like putting my thumb up to my mouth, often putting my nails into my mouth, also weaving them together and often fumbling around all over the place. I play with pens often kind of placing them in my mouth, I wonder if anyone else does this though it sounds a bit gross that I have often put lots of different things like my toys in my mouth, kind of like exploring them. A trait I have picked up over this winter is where I often grab the left zip track of my jacket and hold it out. I have often done some things like when I am often on buses I put my head on the window to feel the vibrations amd just feeling things. Also I stroke my goatie, rufleing my hair and often a kind of scratching my hair/head, kind of makes it look like I may have lice or something.

I "type" on whatever surface is in front of me - book, steering wheel, anything. I could be reading or listening to the radio or something - and I start "typing". I do it a LOT in heavy traffic.

I used to have a special corner of my blankie that I would rub between my thumb and index finger.

Running with my music on. I've done it since I was 9 years old.

Right now, the main thing I do constantly is sucking on my teeth. Good alternative to grinding, as I chipped two teeth the previous week... :x

When I'm in seach of something, or am a bit lost, I "flutter" my fingers (like playing the piano), it's like I'm trying to give myself "good luck" or something, maybe it calms me down, not really sure.

I used to curl my toes in school all the time. Would get them real tight too.

Am wondering about a "habit" I have of placing my self in a "comfortable" position, have done it all my life. In a car, I set my closed hand (not a fist, just the fingers curled to the bottom of my hand) on my leg fingers down, and the same elbow is "propped" on the back of the seat. It's sort of like "forcing" my hand into my leg, and elbow into the chair, something about that feels good. Anyway, just a little example. I wrap my legs around whatever chair I'm in, arms too sometimes. People say it looks uncomfortable as all hell, but it's comfortable to me. :) Not sure this is considered a "stim," just a really odd thing I do, constantly. Wonderin' about how "normal" this is...

The weirdest stim I have is: rubbing my knuckles against my mouth. I also stim in a lot of other ways but I'm too lazy to list them all.
