Long Q: See, I love manga ( ::pokes avatar:: ) and I want to draw it better. But anyway, it's not my main problem, although I do want some advice on it. However, since I have done mostly manga humans, it's hard for me to draw a decent bit of realistic art, with only one teeny portrait to show for practice. I cannot show any samples.

Short Q: How can I improve my realism and my manga styles?

I want information on books and tools I can use to improve both, although realism is my current priority. I have a budget, so you know, but as long as items don't cost over $100 (and I don't want them unless it's, say, a kit), we'll do fine...

I don't know about manga specifically, but for the drawing I've done, the way to improve was thusly:

1. Do some direct copying of stuff you like buy other people. Like, every line and shade. If you get it down, look at how you composed it and try to put that into other situations.

2. Draw alllll the time. The more you do it, the better you'll get, the quicker you'll get better.
