Bully, 12, investigated for rape

A primary school bully has been charged with intimidation and is being investigated for rape after forcing objects into a classmate’s private parts.
The Department of Education launched an urgent investigation into the “shocking” case at the Western Cape school, which has apparently not taken action against the 12-year-old boy.

His 11-year-old victim has slipped into depression and is being forced to sit alone outside the principal’s office at break time for her own safety because her attacker is still at school.

The girl, who suffers from Asperger Syndrome, a form of autism, has allegedly been taunted by the boy and his friends.

Johan Basson, principal of Paarl School for neurally handicapped children in Brackenfell, near Cape Town, allegedly told the girl’s parents that he could not ensure her safety and said: “You brought this upon yourself by going to the police.”

On June 5, the boy allegedly forced a plastic object into the girl’s anus on the school playground as pupils watched.

“There were many other kids and they laughed at me,” the girl said.

Her distraught mother said her child reported the incident but nothing happened.

“She was in pain and went straight to the school psychologist. The psychologist said: ‘I am not prepared to speak to him because he hasn’t taken his Ritalin. If it happens again, go and report it,’ ” said her mother.

Her mother took her to the doctor and reported the incident to the police, where a case of rape was opened.

After the incident the boy and his friends allegedly hurled abuse at the mother, kicked a ball at her car and took pictures of her on their phones. She laid a charge of intimidation against him.

Police spokesman Inspector Bernadine Steyn confirmed that a rape case had been referred to the National Director of Public Prosecutions.

“It is destroying to watch and it is absolutely wicked to have my child suffer like this,” said her mother. “This is a shocking case,” said department spokesman Paddy Attwell. “A professional team is working with the school on dealing with this matter in line with our ‘Abuse no more’ policy.

“The team includes a school psychologist, a social worker and a special needs educator.”

Principal Basson refused to comment.

The whole school should shut down not now, yesterday.

I had a pedophile stalking two of my kids.
I met him, he didn't anymore.
It was pretty simple really, I just told him what I would do to him.

This f*****g pisses me off! all of them are WRONG! The principal for forcing ehr to sit outside his office alone, the mother for forcing her to go back to school, the students who watched and laughed, the f*****g rapist, The school administration for allowing him to continue going there. this is f*****g sick.

This is true, but at least we would be able to understand people much easier!

I have such a problem with that. It sounds as if the psychologist won't talk to the kid if he hasn't taken his medicine? Why not? If he's that scary he shouldn't be in school until it's under control. Although this particular girl was probably the target because she's "weird", if it hadn't been her it would have been somebody else.

They need to take quick decisive action. The boy out of school until he is deemed unlikely to assault his schoolmates. ALL students of the school to be educated on what kinds of bullying behavior are way outside the acceptable boundaries. (It sounds that they watched, probably didn't participate, but a group of kids could just as easily stop him as watch him, he's just one kid.) I am less concerned with getting the boy charged, or convicted, and more concerned in making sure all kids in the school know just how not OK that is.

I do think it's wrong and insensitive to make the girl effectively serve detention for having been a victim of assault. And reprehensible to try to intimidate a parent for doing what a parent ought to do.

Bigger problem is the implication that rape is not a crime until it happens twice.

They need to hire a new psychologist and principle because these two are just plain stupid.

I don't care if he has taken his Ritalin or not. The little sociopath should be tried in court then locked up as a sexual predator. The psychologist and the principal should be held for gross negligence by a court of law.

Culture has a lot to do with it. Did anyone catch the references to where this happened?

They failed her really badly. She should not have to return to that school again. She probably will always be afraid of people because of this and may need to be put in a special class where she is safe but make sure that the teacher is nothing like the principal.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... so other pupils were WATCHING as this happened?! And this was on a playground? Where were the supervisors, and why did no one intervene? So much failure of humanity in one article, it's unbelievable!

There is no reason that the boy shouldn't have been expelled from the school for this, as well as left to rot in prison for a good long while. Some of these supposed authority figures and protectors should also not escape from this unscathed - I'd say a permanent revocation of teaching and/or psychology credentials would be fitting. Furthermore, I hope that the girl will get out of that school to an environment where her health and safety will actually be taken into account to any significant degree.

Disgusting, how this was handled. I hope at least the justice system deals with this in a fitting manner.

Of course the psychologist would speak to him until he's taken his medication. The kid would have the attention span to take in what was said. :?

But he had enough of an attention span to RAPE AN 11 YEAR OLD!! ! :x

It's a travesty how this is being handled. And the mother sent her back to school?! !! 8O

This whole thing just makes me uncomfortable.

That's just wrong, and this is one time when I think a juvenile should be put in the general population in an adult prison. I also think that the principal and "psychologist" should be fired and not allowed to work with children again.
