You should give some earlier Depeche Mode records a listen. Though not too early as they're a bit cheesy.
If you like Depeche Mode how about try New Order and The Cure.
My dad went to the same college, at the same time as one of the guys from Depeche Mode did.
Also, just because in the kinda mood to tell people what to listen to, I'd say get hold of some Aphex Twin and Smokey Robinson.

1. Alanis Morisette- Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (I don't think anything made the radio but it's like a therapy session set to music- one song, the Couch, actually IS supposed to be a therapy session set to music- family therapy, no less!)
2. Alanis Morisette- Under Rug Swept
3. Alanis Morisette-Feast On Scraps
4. Alanis Morisette- Jagged Little Pill Acoustic
5. Alanis Morisette- Jagged Little Pill
6. Alanis Morisette- So-Called Chaos
7. Barenaked ladies- Disc One- All Their Greatest Hits (this leaves more room on the list, I have six albums by THEM too, this being only one of them but with most of the best songs)
8. Spamalot- Original Cast Recording
9. Green Day- American Idiot
10. Helloween- Rabbit Don't Come Easy

I dunno. I can't make decisions. I'm a little bit of.... wait for it, wait for it.... Everything.

I have been forced to cheat a bit to get it down to ten... albums/releases from ten artists will have to do. :P

In no particular order:
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures/Closer/Substance
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Nirvana - Nevermind/MTV Unplugged
Pixies - Bossanova/Trompe Le Monde
The Cure - Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me/Faith/Pornography/Disintegration/etc...
The Sisters Of Mercy - First And Last And Always/Floodland
New Model Army - No Rest For The Wicked/Thunder And Consolation/Raw Melody Men/Vengeance - The Independent Story
Dead Kennedys - Plastic Surgery Disasters/Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables
Rammstein - Mutter/Sehnsucht
The Smiths - The World Won't Listen/The Smiths/The Queen Is Dead/Hatful Of Hollow

meh, no room left for Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Devo, Therapy?, NIN, Cocteau Twins, Siouxsie, AFI, Pavement, Nerf Herder, Fear Factory, Killing Joke, Sonic Youth, Wilt/Kerbdog, Husker Du, Sugar, Celldweller, Pitchshifter, Faith No More... :(
