Oh, I did have those issues. I dropped out of University several times.

The worst for me was to really organize myself and deliver term papers on time.

I didn't really mind being alone but then it was somewhat easy to have a conversation since you have a commun interest (what you are studying).

Lucky me, I never had to do team projects or papers. I would have avoided them too.

It is just a natural tendency to avoid them as an Aspie, I am not ashamed to say it.

But why? Ah, this is the question.

I have had a hard time organising myself, also I have realy hated the group things I have, I am bad at socialising and much prefered highschool as socialising was not just over assignments o how difficult the lectures and homework is. But I have attended all my classes, it is the least I can force myself to do.

At what job?

But yes, some people do go to work right after high school. Those are the people who are forced to make a career out of working at Wal-Mart.

Does someone really have to answer this question?

Maybe online classes would be better.

I went to most of my classes but there were some that I skipped simply because there was/is a Disc Golf course on campus and playing the game was a better way of spending a nice afternoon.

The "Why" is the question. For me, I have a problem approaching or operating in an environment with several people but not so much when the amount of people is about 3 or less. It is easier for me to approach a group of 3 people and strike up a conversation as oppossed to a group of maybe 5 or more. The difference is like night and day and I have to consciously make an effort to "will" myself to approach the group or stay in the situation. I did not talk to many people in my classes my fresman year but found that when I did, I was more inclined to attend the class.

I did not have many group projects, being an science and engineering student.

Good Luck.

I couldn't have done it, organising myself, dissertations and all that stuff...way too complicated, not that I don't have the brains...Also it would be just like in the army (I didn't have to go there either, lucky me).

But I have done the life experience university, the one of a nomad and a globetrotter. Much more experience and life like, from life and not from the books.

Yes. I just started at UNCA and I'm completely socially paralyzed in class.

No, actually I had trouble avoiding classes. One time a professor even said I always thought he was lying about allowing us to miss class without being penalized - i think the policy was you were allowed to miss 3 classes, plus one day for every day he missed.

I was just to worried to actually miss class. So even on the days I tried it, I ended up coming in about the middle of class.

I don't mind university that much really... being surrounded by people is a bit of a pain, but I try to avoid eye contact as much as possible so after the first few days pretty much everyone leaves me alone. Once the term gets going i just go to class, avoid talking to anyone, and then go back home.

I really hated the classes where you had to do group work or presentations in front of people. These made me extremely anxious and I'd inevitably screw things up in front of everyone. After a bit of experience I tried to avoid these classes as much as possible.

The worst part about going to university for me is being surrounded by seemingly happy people talking to each other and realizing that i'm probably never going to have any friends like that! It's not fun.

at most universities that groups of friends hanging around before class oftentimes only hang around before class and nowhere else. So just jump right in.

me too, i was obsessed by attending every single class. i had got vaccinated against flu every year so i didn't get ill and could go to classes. there were some classes that were pretty useless and very early in the morning so only me one other person attended it and i knew that if i missed, half of the class would be absent and that was a horrible thought.

i lived in a student dormitory, so as for socializing, i was quite forced to socialize at least with my roommate and we studied at the same department so had the classes together. and at last we ended up in class with only three people, because it was difficult branch to study and no one wanted it.
