Question 1:

Who is the individual depicted in my avatar? Bonus points if you can explain what my avatar has to do with my username. More bonus points if you can identify the make and model of guitar that he is playing.

If that's too hard . . .

Easy Question 1:

What are/were the names of the 4 people who were The Ramones on the first 3 records? Bonus points for knowing their real (pre-Ramones) names as well. That includes birth names and stage names used before The Ramones.

Tommy, Johnny, Joey and Dee Dee Ramone. Alas, I do not know their real names by heart.

Do I get bonus points for pointing out that later members included C.J., Marky and I think even Elvis Ramone?

Oh, and that would be Blixa Bargeld in your avatar playing a... Jaguar or a Jazzmaster. I can't see the picture now

edit: Wait, is it Blixa? *strokes chin* I can't remember if he was in the B'Party or not.

Blixa was not in The Birthday Party. My avatar is Rowland S Howard (who was not in The Bad Seeds). I believe the guitar is a Fender Jaguar, but I could be mistaken.

Correct on the easy question. Sorry, no bonus points for later members, but I would have given you points for the other Richie, who played bass at their first practice and then quit. Real names:

Joey - Jeff Hyman, a.k.a. Jeff Starship (in Sniper, pre-Ramones)
Johnny - John Cummings
Dee Dee - Douglas Colvin
Tommy - Tomas Erdelyi

I guess I can't ask questions that are easy enough. This thread is doomed.

Well I'll do a Beatles special.

1. What was the first song with a George Harrison writing credit recorded by The Beatles?
2. What was the first Beatles number one single?
3. Which Beatles album has sold the most copies worldwide?
4. How many original songs did the band record in total?
5. Who was the first Beatle to quit the band, and in what year?

And a Pink Floyd special.

1. Which Pink Floyd album was described in one publication as 'their best effort since Atom Heart Mother'?
2. Who is the only band member to have appeared on every single one of their albums?
3. Name all the songs with a solo Nick Mason writing credit.

Good thinking. I bet a bunch of people here will know the answers to those. I don't know them off-hand, but if no one answers, I'll do some research and give it a shot.

Hmmm. I should probably have specified UK number 1, and on first release. Cause that was first released over here in 1962, and didn't hit number 1.

I'm going to answer your question with a video:

^ That video was funny, but do you know the answer, JohnHopkins? I know I don't - my tastes in music are "intense and narrow", as they say . . .

Ah. I've stopped listening to PiL lately because of those John Lydon racism accusations. I'll forget about them at some point and just stick 'Rise' on absent-mindedly, I know it.

OK, here's one . . .

The frequently covered garage rock song, "Fight Fire", was written by someone in a San Francisco garage rock band who would later be in a very well-known band in the 1970's. Who was the author of the song, what was the name of the band he was in when he wrote it, and what famous band was he in later?

Extra points if you can provide more information about the earlier band; everyone knows about the one from the 70's.

And a slightly easier one . . .

Before he returned to London and managed the Sex Pistols, Malcolm MacLaren spent some time in the U.S., gaining fashion inspiration from the New York punk scene and trying to give which other well-known and influential band a new image - as "communists" in red "leather"?
