Deep in thought and...rubbing my nose?

I've been noticing something about myself. Whenever I think, or sometimes when I'm not really thinking, I tend to place my palm flat on my nose and rub it. I've been wondering is this an "AS quirk?"

Nah, people have quirks like that when thinking all the time.
I stroke my beard, or rub my chin, if I've shaved.

not uncommon for As to have stimming and trait behaviour as you have described.
for me it was noticed i sniff a lot before i get angry, kinda like a warning to others, i never knew i did it, but constant repetitive behaviour in a stressfull setting can be attributed to As, in my opinion.

You know, when I think, I tend to crook my head and look into the open space.. must appear pretty odd to others but I didn't realize this until I saw this thread!

I always wonder how much of that is trained. Ie do people rub their chins when in deep thought because of subconcious processes or becasue they grew up watching actors on tv do it

I know a common trait for NT's, is having their thumb up their Bum and their mind in neutral.

you know. i do exactly the same thing. "rubbing my chin". king tuts (not sure how to spell it) beard i think they call it. used to be sign language for someone lying... in kind of a jokey kids schoolyard way... but yeah. i do that... but ofc im only 15 so... no beard. but i dont like the feel of beards anywho. so ill stick with the chin.

I have a similar quirk, not with the palm of my hand just I will kind of rub my nose with my finger once and then comb my hair behind my ear. Always those two things together. Can't explain it

I rub my nose like that when deep in thought or excited too, usually with both hands though

I noticed myself rubbing my hand behind my head when I am explaining why I didnt do what I said I would do. I'm pretty sure I picked it up from watching anime.
