Alright... first I just wantto ask you all not to make fun of me... but... I am pretty fat. And I want to change this. I've stopped eating as much but here is my dillemmna.

my mom works like 7 days a week almost and I have to babysit my sister the whole time shes gone (so basically almost roudn the clock) I don't have time after dark to go out so thats out of the question and so I am just wondering what I can do for exercise. (Also on a 2nd floor) I would like to get in good shape (was thinking about joining the Army, dunno if they let aspies in) but I figured if I don't get in shape I'll die before I'm 30 anyways. So I'm wondering what I can do AND how to "get into" and have fun with the workouts.

i used to be a little over weight myself, but that same year i took action to get fit, and i went to an exercise program afterschool and during the summer. it was great after exerciseing i felt more energized.it will be good for you because you'll have more energy, and stealth. some simple walking around the neighbor hood will do you some good as long as you do it often.

Sounds like a difficult situation your in regarding finding an exercise to do.

Here is a good place to go for info on loosing weight, nutrition, working out etc.
All the basic info is in the "stickys" in each subject.

Nutrution is a BIG part of overall health & weight loss.
Drop all the processed foods and sugars.... (not easy to do in our convenience based society) :?
Eat lots of fruits, veggies, lean meats, and whole grains.

Do you drink lots of soda?
I know people who have dropped 10lbs by eliminating soda from their diet.

Good luck,

If you have a way to get there join the YMCA, you can swim, lift weights, play racquetball, etc, they have numerous programs to keep the kiddies entertained while you do all this. I'm a member but have not been in a while, also don't join the military to get in shape, the military is the devil.....just joking, but if your aspie you will probably be miserable IMHO, I was in the Marine Corp for 1.5 yrs and lets just say we did not part on good terms.

porbally the best way to get into shape is to swim an hour a day.
i found that swimming is also the best way to get rid of stress. i just start swimming and just dont think about anything, like im "in the zone".
i usually can swim for two to three hours. but thats just me.

here's an idea! If it's warm out, go to a nearby park and play w/ your sister. If it's cold, get some weights and lift while she's watching TV or something. If it's snowing, have a snowball fight!

I lost 50lbs in a month and kept it off (lost more actually).

You can pretty much ignore most of the diet advice. Losing weight is as simple (although not necessarily easy) as burning more calories than you consume. The only way to do this is with cardiovascular exercise. Lifting weights alone isn't going to cut it.

Exercising tiny muscles isn't going to cut it either. I see lots of foolish women lying on their side and lifting their leg up. What is that supposed to accomplish? You're exercising a muscle the size of my middle finger! I do pull-ups with a cinder block tied to my back and that isn't going to burn a lot of calories either. I have bigger biceps, but they aren't as big as my quads, or even calfs.

If you can, cycle or run, if you can't then you'll have to find an alternative like step aerobics. Something that uses your quads and glutes a lot and makes you sweat like a pig for at least an hour a day.

Save the fad diets and colonics for humorous purposes only. I could barely contain my laughter when I overheard two fat lesbians (no slur, they were fat lesbians) talk about losing weight by colon flushing. Yes right.

I do 20-30 minutes of cardio, followed by another 30 minutes of weight training. Sometimes I do the Spinning class at the gym, or for stress relief, yoga. I've lost 35lbs doing this and virtually eliminating sodas and junk from my diet. Now, occasionally I allow myself a treat, but I make sure the portion is smaller. One thing that's excellent for weight loss is green tea, and if you're female, tea reduces the risk of ovarian cancer. Green tea has something that boosts the metabolism, and has less caffiene than a regular soda.

I am in shape, round is a shape. With my luck I'll start going to a gym and get hit by a bus. Stay fit and happy until you are dead, LOL. If you want to get in shape, do it for yourself, not becuase anyone else says you should.

I've decided to start working out the university gym and riding my bike, in an attempt to get a well toned body.

I know it will make me more healther and give me better body image and self esteem. But I dunno if many girls suddenly become attracted in me.

Remeber that if you are losing weight but not maintaining a healthy diet, you are loosing the wrong type of weight (i.e. muscle). It is better to eat and put on weight, i.e. muscle, which will give you more confidence, energy and sculpture.

i did no exercise until over a year ago, i now swim, do Judo and go to the Gym, believe me losing weight should not be the aim, it will become a by-product of eating healthy food and maintaining a good routine

:!: :!: :!:

CEEJ.... Personally after 18+ years in the military... that branch of the service wouldn't be my first choice.. If anyone wants to know why please PM me.

Walking is a great form of exersize. I walk with the kids every evening. We have built up to about a two mile walk. The way I get my sedentary son out is to say we are going to go to his favorite park, then we take a long way getting there. That way they get what they want, playing at the playground, and they get more exersize hidden in there.

I have also started wearing a pedometer. I first put it on on a normal no walking day at work. Then I decided I would make every effort to double it. For instance, leaving my auto at the day care center, and walking to work.

This has increased my energy levels, and hopefully will result in a toner body and less fat increase.

Good luck!

I lost 20 pounds once over about 4 months.

This is whatworked for me.
Load a 50 pound sand bag in a backpack (one with a frame and hip belt.Walk at least 45 minutes a day with it.
Don't eat anything for that time more than 20 percent fat calories.Derive this by deviding the total calories by the fat
calories, if you get a number higher than 5, don't eat it.

Take chromium picholonate (SP?).
Maintain a good pace.My poor executive function interferes with my getting enough exercise, but I was trying to qualify
as a wild land firefighter, that gave me a goal (test is 3 miles in 45 minutes with a 45 pound pack).

Do you like gardening? When I had a full size garden,I lost that much every summer.

They say to find something you enjoy, so you will stay with it.

Actually, not such practical advice when yourr watching a little sister,is it?
