8O I worked as a GSM Engineer at a famous mobile network's switch..suddenly one nite my superior sent me a text saying " Arun you should work for more hours to learn more from the network" it irritated me a lot then I went to his office next morning I never thought of resigning that job.. I asked " Sir what happened, Why did u send me that text yesterday ? " he said that " I sent that text to everyone in the network not only for you" I later found that my colleagues there din't receive that kind of text. He constantly irritated me like this one " There are even people to do my job, so don't consider you're the one". Then how can I work in that place. I boldly gave him the resignation letter... I never took leave in that work, I worked very hardly .. Working in a real time network needs lots of energy...that too for an aspie, you guys know what it needs. The work involves maintaining links between our network and various other operators.. They din't know that I'm an aspie ... I still don't know where I went wrong....Now its 8th month... without a job...I'm struggling a lot...what to do now guys tell me...I don't have any friends other than God & Parents... :x

Good luck finding a new one. You didn't say what your reasons were, but in this economy, its going to be really hard finding a new job.

Hi arunrajasekaran,

What sort of pressure, and from whom?

Thanks for editing your post and providing more details. Sounds like you did nothing wrong. You just decided not to tolerate disrespectful treatment. Good on you - you obviously have very clear personal and professional boundaries. You will get another job - just keep focusing on your strengths and what you have to offer, and rehearse an 'acceptable' answer to use in job interviews when they ask you why you left your last job

Well, it was a mistake to resign in this economy. I guess you probably figured that out by now. There is a surplus of tech workers right now. You were probably replaced by the end of the day with a guy with twice the education working for half what you earned.

Sometimes companies will jerk you around to try and get you to quit just like you did. Its easier than to get you to take a 50% cut in pay voluntarily. Not only that, but they save on unemployment insurance because you aren't really entitled to that if you quit. Its always best to force them to terminate you if you are to have to leave the company.

On the other hand, you have to realize that as an aspie, you are more sensitive to comments and situations than other people. Could it have been possible that you read too much in to the situation and an NT would have ignored?

I left the IT field because there aren't any more jobs. If you are lucky enough to find one, expect to move around to weird places in the country. If you are an American, the only jobs available to Americans right now are defense work. All other IT/Tech jobs are being done by foreign nationals here on H-1B visas.

I've found that not to be true. I have been applying for IT jobs and have gotten a ton of responses and interviews. I just started a new job this week in fact. I am doing general help desk and low level system administration.

I quit my last job due to a similar thing... more social pressure and me getting pissed off at the way the idiots above me were running things.

Learned the hard way to never quit a job until another one is lined up. My finances took a serious hit from it.

If you've been 8 months without a job.. well man, you need to get one no matter what it is. Even low level helpdesk support provides a paycheck.. just get a crappy job while spamming resumes to get back into your field.

I would disagree. I recently resigned from a high-stress job, too. I felt like s**t most of the time for the last four years. My options were resigning, or having to start taking anti-anxiety medication. Now I'm looking for something that works better for me.

One has to do what one has to do . . .
