Everyone loves lyrical music. That's a fact. But does anyone like instrumental too? You know, like soundtracks from movies. If you've ever seen Final Fantasy or played Chrono Cross, then you'd know what I was talking about. Which would you prefer? Music with meanings already tied to it, or music you lyric in your mind?

I like some instrumental songs (I love many soundtracks) but I like songs better when they have lyrics, too, as long as the lyrics are decent.

I focus on lyrics more than music usually. Music is the background to the lyrics, not the other way around IMO. Great in depth lyrics which make you think, are the difference between a good or a great track very often.

Lyrics are the most important part, but not the only part. Instrumental songs can have an emotional reaction too.

I like some songs, and have my own list of favorite singers, but I mostly prefer to hear just music. A human voice colors and puts narrow constraints on music, which is usually a distraction from what I want.

Instrumental by far, for me. I just don't have much of an ear for lyrics in music. I don't have a problem with them, I just hear them rather than listen to them. There are hundreds, perhaps thousands of songs whose music I know intimately, but whose lyrics have barely sunk in.
