Coke zero-good or bad?
I'm trying to lose some weight, so I've been thinking of what to eat and drink. I thought I had the drink thing down when a friend of mine said I could a lot of weight if I switched over to coke zero, since I used to drink about 4-8 cans of coca-cola a day. So I've been doing that for awhile, but then I heard that coke zero is actually worse for you.
Is this true? Mind you, I'm not on my cola ingredients so I was just wondering, is coke zero bad for you or good (or at least a better alternative than regular coke)for you? And if its bad, what would be a better alternative besides water?

Well it tastes better then diet coke, but the problem with any diet pop containing aspartame, and
may have some toxic effects on the body, I have heard that diet pop may contribute to obesity.
I only drink coke zero every other day, my prefered choice to drink is green tea, and I drink over
60oz. per day

Coke zero doesn't have aspertane. Even if it did You are safe with it. Obesity occurs when you consume moe calories than you burn for a long period of time

Coke Zero does have aspartame. The entire point of diet soda is that it is calorie free and therefore does NOT cause obesity. I believe that some people have hypothesized that people who drink a lot of diet soda develop crazy sweet tooths (teeth?) and therefore end up eating more in the long run and becoming obese, but trust me, if you are trying to lose weight, you should definitely go with diet soda over regular soda which has tons of sugar and calories. Also, drinking a lot of water is a nice way to lose weight. It keeps your metabolism going and your body actually has to burn calories to process water.

It does have aspartame, which is probably the single worst additive known to man. The story of how it was approved reads like a horror novel, and with its FDA-acknowledged 92 known side-effects including cancer, stroke, heart failure, death, gradual organ failure etc etc it's pretty horrendous stuff.
In short, if you're going to drink coke, drink the real stuff with sugar in it. Sugar is bad, yes, but it's far better for you than aspartame or any other artificial sweeteners.
I think Coke are actually bringing out a coke sweetened with Stevia though soon, which is another natural sweetener (made from the pressed leaves of the South American Stevia plant) that has no side effects, no calories, is hundreds of times sweeter than sugar, and in some studies is shown to have a positive effect on blood sugar levels as well. So keep an eye out for that.

If you want aspartame to have even remotely harmfull effects on your body, you'd have to drink four liters of Coca Cola Zero every day for many years.

Not true at all. Any amount of it is extremely toxic. There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people who suffer side effects ranging from migraines on consumption of a single can of diet coke through to those who've almost died because of it thanks to misdiagnosed Graves Disease, heart disease, stroke, seizures - all of which turned out to be aspartame poisoning from a single can of diet coke a day.
You can look at some graphic photographic evidence of what it does to rats fed the equivalent of a single can of diet coke/day by weight at http://www.myaspartameexperiment.com . It does have some pretty nasty photos of animals though so be warned.

This is a myth that has been popularized by the tabloids. If Aspartame was dangerous, it wouldn't be legal after all the experiments that's been conducted.
Some of the myths about aspartame are debunked here:

Ahhh, the good old manufacturer front-group pages eh! They're funded by and run by the people who make the product, so they MUST be SOOOOOOOO neutral and impartial and unbiased and would tell us if it was toxic, wouldn't they?
Notice how both those sites are run by the Calorie Control Centre? They're a very, very well-known front group for NutraSweet, run by and paid for by the NutraSweet company. Basically, they're the artifical sweetener industry's propaganda machine - part of the company itself.
Would suggest this brilliant piece first:

Interesting. Did you hear any news about when that is supposed to hit the market?

Early next year by the looks.

You can get stevia now though - it comes in liquid form (for in tea/coffee/etc - 2 drops per cup is plenty!) or in powdered form for use in baking. Or you can grow your own plant. Lovely stuff!!

The sites I've linked to mainly use independent sources. What you've linked to are sites with the same credibility as Oprah or the tabloid newspapers.

No, and no.
The ones you've linked to are not independent in any way - they're both sites from the Calorie Control Centre, who are the industry spokespeople. If you ask someone who's going to make big big money from a product if it's good for you, do you really expect them to tell you it's going to harm you? No. They're the industry front-group, and are long known and documented as being so.
The story I linked to in the first one is a forum, with an article linked from The Ecologist magazine.

I recommend trying to get away from carbonated drinks altogether. In fact, I recommend you get away from anything acidic besides tea and juices. I make an acception to those because they have anti-oxidant and anti-cancer benefits to at least partially make up for their acidity.
Drink springwater, as it has minerals and is either alkaline, or at least has a neutral PH (7 or above is good).
