What rights (UK rights, as I have no intention of moving to the US or any other part of the world. I'm not even planning on leaving England!) do Autistic Rights Acitivists actually fight for? Or is it just to do the impossible task of getting everyone to accept Autism?

You can't get everyone to accept autism, no more than you can get everyone to accept the metric system. Or a certain religion.

I know, hence I said "impossible task".
I was wondering if Autstic Rights Activists are fighting for our right to vote (which we have) etc. Or are they doing to to attempt (and fail) for everyone to be aware and accept etc.

In other words, in the UK, are me rights limited, or are the same as everyone elses?

Ok.
"Women's Rights" fought for the right for women to vote, and be equal.
Are Autsitic Rights doing the same thing. Do people with autism have equal rights to Neurotypicals in the UK?

Autistic rights activists usually fight for expanded services and fewer restrictions on personal liberty being attached to such services. They also fight against discrimination in the workplace.

Someday, everyone will use the metric system. It will be a glorious day when my native country finally abandons the crap English system.

Not, that I would know. Just a guess:

Since we have all the basic rights like voting, they may fight for Autists getting the same amount of help as people with other disorders, for example in school or at universities.

and some googling and wikipedia help:

the uk is the most politically correct country in the world..everyone has rights and the uk has the disability discrimination act.

it is an effective piece of legislation, and it underpins the uk's position in europe which also has european rules on disability rights.

It doesn't have to be everyone. It took years for us to get over racism, and in fact we're actually not over it. Many many people in America are still racist. But does that mean Martin Luther King failed?

I think the main purpose is, in fact, understanding and acceptance. Another goal is to redirect autism related resources to more useful pursuits than what they are currently directed towards. Another goal is to prevent genetic research, for a sense of pride, and for fear they will develope post natal scans and start selective abortion like they did with Down's Syndrome.

I understand it as fighting for the following things (though there are no doubt others):
-For home, school, work and other environments to be safe for people regardless of neurology.
-So places like the Judge Rotenberg Center will stop torturing people in the name of "curing" them.
-So people who cannot live independently will be free from mistreatment and exploitation by their caretakers.
-Against quack treatments that feed off the desperation of parents in order to gain money at the expense of autistic people's actual welfare.
-Against the self-fulfilling prophecy of autistic lives being incomplete and inherently flawed, and therefore convince people that, with the right help, we CAN live good, happy, independent, successful lives.
-Against a eugenic "cure" of autism.
-For a reasonable amount of understanding and accommodation from people when it comes to sensory, motor skill, (non-harmful) social and other issues that come with the territory.
-Overall, for autistic people to have their voices heard and respected rather than have other people singlehandedly decide what's good for them, regardless of the wills of the people themselves.
