I was going to start a thread here after the first episode but held off as the show has a lot of horrible 'soft porn', so was not sure how many fans would be here. I was a fan of the books before the show, so I'm a bit more in favor of the books. The books have no nasty bed-hopping Jason (his characters side obsessions are all implied not tossed in your face time & time again) the books have a better story line as it's from Sookies perspective. I think Alan Ball could have done better, but I can live with his creation. I do like HBO's version of Tara better then Charlaine's though. Stephen Moyer is lovely too... for him alone I'm glad they made the show. :D I love Pam & Lafayette too (will miss him)! I wish they would have staked Jessica in the finale...

I swear the actress who plays Sookie (Anna Paquin) is on the spectrum. No doubt in my mind. Wonder if she knows?

What makes you think that?

hmm...
* Stiff, jerky movements of her head and body.
* She hardly looks comfortable in her own skin.
* Facial expressions are all off (in many scenes).
* When she tries to look lovingly at Bill she instead looks really peeved.
* She's been a bit defensive, with no real reason, in several interviews.

Those are just a few that come to mind at the moment.
I like her though. She makes a decent Sookie.

I just started watching it. One word... Addicted!
It's really trashy at times, but I enjoy the show muy muchos. Even though it occasionally makes me question my taste a bit.
And I think it says bad things about me that I find Eric mind-blowingly attractive. I guess violent vikings just trump southern gentlemen for me. But I do like Sam. xD

I'm about to start episode 3 of season 2. Can't wait to see what happens!

there was a really good BBC series last year called 'being human' that you might enjoy. best to watch the pilot first IMO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lxi12tJA ... re=related

The southern accents make me smile. Highly amusing stuff, right there.
I started watching it about 2 days ago and now I've watched all the way up to season 2, episode 3 now (I believe I'm all caught up now, real time.) Since I spent so much of time watching them, I'm concerned I'm going to slip up mid-conversation and start speaking with a southern accent. XD

Even though the actor that plays Bill slips up a lot with his accent, I can't think of an accent that would be more difficult for a British person to do - the southern thing he has going is pretty much the exact opposite of his actual accent.

The accents make me smile. My cousin and I were bored yesterday so I was trying to imitate them, mostly Sookie's and some of Tara's. I can't really do Bill's. It's kind of sad, but this show makes about half of my summer. >.<

As a fan of Alan Ball's work, I'll admit I haven't really looked into this series yet. I might look into seeing the pilot episode via torrent to see if it's something I'd be interested in.

I watched all of season one and what's out in season two in about two days, so I was pretty much immersed in the accents. Now I sometimes get paranoid that I'm accidentally saying words with a southern accent.

Has anybody read the books? I'm in the middle of the third one and the characters and plot are quite notably different from the show.

They both can be occasionally trashy and/or sex-heavy, but I feel like the show is better written than the books are. The books are so Sookie-focused that the other characters don't have too much depth, and a few of them are too inexplicably enamored with Sookie to do/be anything else.

Overall, I just feel like the books aren't very intelligently written. There's a surplus of inane repetition, Sookie gloating over her appearance and many overy snarky references to "word-of-the-day calendars." Ick. The plot is still pretty good but I have more than a few issues with the way it's told.

Yikes... That was kind of harsh, sorry.
Anybody else have an opinion on the books?

New episode on tonight!! XD
But I have to wait until tomorrow since I watch online. ):

I'm about to start the 5th book; it's really grown on me! Either my taste is degenerating or they're actually improving.

I have mixed feelings about this season so far. I'm just really waiting for the action to speed up and for everyone's storylines to collide so I can see them interact, but that's probably going to happen soon.

I'm curious to see where this "Jessica" thing goes. Hmm... Oh! And what happens to Jason and the crazy church place! And what the heck is up with Tara's situation? I can't wait until it all comes together.

They should be heading to Dallas soon, so hopefully the pace will pick up when they get there. Some more Eric would be lovely and much appreciated. :F

Maybe Eric and Bill will stop by another 'Forever 21' ( I just now realized the irony of the store's name in context. That's a good one.) at the Galleria in Dallas. I think that episode was my favorite so far - possibly of both seasons. I think it was episode 2 of season 2. It started off really brutal, a body being torn up, then had some amusing stuff; such as the ever subtle Eric and his comical track suit... "You like?" Oh I like, Eric. I like indeed.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that there will be more Eric this season. And I'm curious about Jessica too, since she's not part of the books I really don't know what to expect from her character. But so far I really like her.

I like the way she and Bill interact. They're hilarious.
Oh! And what will Lafayette be up to?
I'm also curious about what Jason and his involvement in the Fellowship of the Sun camp-thing will lead to. His words of wisdom in the latest episode made me laugh: "Evil is the pre-medicated decision to be a dick!"

I hope Alcide is in the show! I liked him. And hopefully there'll be some more Pam too. XD

Currently in the middle of book #6! (:

Jessica is my favorite! I'm also waiting to see how everything will come together this season. The last episode was a good one.
