Rembrandt (Harmenszoon) van Rijn.... An etching of himself (1630) when he was 23/24 years old. Out of all the works he made I picked this one because it's so expressive and seemingly made with such ease.

Where mark-making, content and, ironically, perspective and illusion collide and do battle in a sublimated, aggravated orgy of almost Metal proportions!

Your going to laugh Erminea, Lady with Erimine by Leonardo da Vinci is one of my favorites since I have ferrets.

This is a wonderful painting; both lady and ermine are so well depicted with light and shade. She looks interesting.

Thank you, Anna. Thought it could be nice. Most pictures posted here are beautiful pieces of art, I think.

And CL, don't know what you mean with the smiley/emoticon but I was just trying to help. And of course Picasso needs to be shown. In general I would say.

Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth

Image

I remember some earlier poster said he liked paintings with open expanses of nature. That reminded me of this picture. I love it.

The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke by Richard Dadd.

There's so much going on in the painting.

I can't see the second picture, the Picasso, you posted. It's still not shown. It's a little red cross on my screen. No worries, but....

Can you see it?
