I agree with RarePegs on Mr. Bean. I was watching Mr. Bean's Holiday last night and was watching it with the intent of analyzing him. Now, if he is portraying someone with AS, it would seem that he is portraying it in an obviously exaggerated humorous way. I'm also a Bean fan and have the Bean movies and the entire television series in a box set, as well as the Bean cartoons.

I don't know if anyone watches the new Terminator show but on the newest episode last night there was a guy whose (adult) son was inventing an AI program. The son seemed AS or mildly autistic to me.

He was a pretty minor character and didn't have much screen time but thats the idea I got anyway.

incoorect to say spock. He was half vulcan. Its a trait that is is his species norm...added by the conflicts the come from his two halves opping each other as well as not being able to belong to humans or vulcans

Uh.. We're going by the behaviors they exibit and how that applies to someone in the real world. If we're supposed to be taking all of this as reality in the context in which its presented then that changes things. Then the question becomes what fictional characters are actually said to have AS within their own particular movie or book. Which is dumb.

Moss, from the UK Channel 4 comedy The IT Crowd.... he's so cool, it's the funniest show ever. But blatantly AS.

Like... check this short clip, the way he tries the comeback about the glasses is just spot on. Love him.

I also think Neville Longbottom. He's not very good at some subjects but excells in Herbology. And I love how in the Goblet of Fire movie he wouldn't stop talking about plants.

I never thought about Neville before, but now that you mention herbology, it makes sense. He's shy, doesn't stick up for himself, easily bullied, and he knows everything about that one subject. Interesting.

Am going to throw a few that I've never seen mentioned in any of these threads:

Hank Hill, from "King of the Hill"
Agent 86 (Maxwell Smart) from "Get Smart" (although the character is most likely a caricature).
The virgin on "Forty Year Old Virgin" (Steve Carrol's character)

All have some strong characteristics.

Heh, Chuckie's dad from Rugrats, never thought of that. Good one, Idaho Rose.

The more I think about it, Tech Sergeant Chen from Galaxy Quest (played by the dude who does the detective with OCD in Monk)

Some listed:

Rain Man would fit "low-functioning" AS
Mr. Bean is a good example of someone with AS (he is "high-functioning")
Data is a good example of a certain manifestation of AS
