Hi everyone!

I'm new here, I just want to say hello :D
My name is Anna, I'm 18 years old. Live in Sweden.

I got my Asperger diagnosis in April this year (2008).

I'm not so good at English, I have only read it for 3 years in school, 2000-2002.
I thought write here on wrongplanet will be a good way to learn English better.

I live in the southern part of Sweden (near Denmark), called Skåne/Skane.
My hometown is Kristianstad.

My hobbies are cooking, read books, write letters/postcards and poetry, listen to music,
go to the library, languages, surfing on the net, photographing, and school...

Hi speaksilence and welcome to the wrongplanet. I was also diagnosed with Asperger's. I think you will find this site useful for meeting others and for helping you practice English. I also like poetry and photography. Have fun.

Hi Anna and welcome. British people can now get to see Skåne on television because we now have an English language version of Wallander on BBC1 on Sunday evenings, filmed in and around Ystad. I've recorded the first episode but haven't seen it yet. Is the word Scandinavia derived from Skåne?

You are so kind, I feel so glad when I read your welcome-words, everyone!

RarePegs I don't understand exactly what you meant with "Is the word Scandinavia derived from Skåne?"
They shows Wallander on Sundays evenings here in Sweden too! I really like the movies. Another film-series that almost is like Wallander is Beck.
I think Beck is even better than Wallander. :)

Little about Scandinavia:
Scandinavia is a historical and geographical region centred on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe. It consists of the kingdoms of Norway, Sweden and Denmark, with some sources also including the nations of Finland and Iceland as well. Regardless of how the term "Scandinavia" is used outside the region, the terms the Nordic countries and the Nordic region are used officially and unambiguously to identify the nations of Norway, Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark, the Danish territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland, and the Finnish territory of Åland as politically and culturally similar entities.
