I sometimes pick up over a handful in change (usually 2-4 dollars worth) and try to guess the amount within 5 seconds. I am usually off by only a few cents (3-5).

YES! So do I. I can guess the amount in my hand quite accurately as well.

I think it's an ability associated with being on the autistic spectrum. I find it quite enjoyable.

I don't estimate the total amount of a handful of banknotes or coins. Instead I estimate the price of things. My guesses are mostly unrealistic because I like to use exclusive stores and check the prices of things overseas in the different currencies and then convert them. I get all sorts of answers that way.

I love doing that thing :D Though it isn't always turned on for me.

Especially fun at a florist, you go for a bouquet of X flowers, the florist goes to the back, makes a bouquet and as she puts down the bouquet you say say almost instantly: You're a few short, hon.

With coins I'm a mess ever since they changed currency here.

What are these coin things you speak of? I don't think I've paid for anything in cash in like 8 years

I can't do that; but while my meals are cooking I always get the urge to walk to the kitchen about five seconds before the microwave oven finishes its cycle. Apparently I am good at mentally judging small amounts of time, up to about ten minutes. Unfortunately I'm horrible at anything more than that!

Me too! i find im usually very good at subconsiously judging small amounts of time. i just seem to 'know' when my microwave or oven buzzer will go off. i tend to be less accurate if i think about it too much tho.

Me neither!! In fact I go into panic mode if I don't have my debit card with me! I get upset if a store only accepts cash, and not debit cards.

I do that all the time, and I walk back in there right as it goes off.
Although, I never have tried the money thing...I might now... :o
