It is powdered, sugar-coated pop schmaltz draped over trance for easy digestion by giggling highschool girls and poser trendy types who would never think to even blink at trance in its raw incarnate. This is the musical equivalent of drowning a meal in ketchup so you can't taste the original flavour anymore.

Yeah, the sample selections per each style were done pretty well (Hardstep, Techstep, Jump-up, Jazz Step, Raggae, and Hard Acid Techno (2 esp.) were all well represented), though I definitely noticed his own biases in there and unfortunately with a lot of tracks I listened to I could tell he looped after the 8th bar and caught at a low point that lost some of the best parts of the track.

Yeah, interesting that someone got obsessed enough to make that site.. I'd be more interested in a rock'n'roll version of it though...

Sadly the only artist in that field I would take some pride in knowing is Aphex Twin... and I can't seem to find him in there... shouldn't he be under IDM??

i used to think that too. dance = s***. i also used to listen to black metal - raaarrrr! *cough*
then, suddenly i discovered acid/epic-trance & oldskool hardcore, then DNB, Psy/Goa and IDM.
I wish id got into the rave scene much earlier, i wouldve been too young to enjoy the initial M25 expolsion (london circular road), but theres much ive missed out on.

I spend an absurd amount of time on the site everyday now. It's turning me on to some great artists. I like lots of genres, a list is needed.
