:?

At least Adolf is a name people actually have (its not like kids at school will call him by his first and middle name) but his sister?

Aryan. Good luck explaining what that means when you're in third grade and the kids are all saying

Nevaeh S (because there are 12 Nevaehs in the class) "My name is Nevaeh! That's Heaven spelled backwards! My mommy is so clever! Just like 300 other mommies in town!"
Deb "My real name is Deborah... it's from the bible and I don't like it but I like the bible because I'm going to heck if I don't"

(I suck at imitating the way kids talk)

As for living up to your name....

ELIZABETH

Gender: Feminine

Usage: English, Biblical

Pronounced: i-LIZ-ə-bəth (English) [key]
From Ελισαβετ (Elisabet), the Greek form of the Hebrew name אֱלִישֶׁבַע ('Elisheva') meaning "my God is an oath" or perhaps "my God is abundance". The Hebrew form appears in the Old Testament where Elisheba is the wife of Aaron, while the Greek form appears in the New Testament where Elizabeth is the mother of John the Baptist.

Among Christians, this name was originally more common in Eastern Europe. It was borne in the 12th century by Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, a daughter of King Andrew II who became a Franciscan nun and lived in poverty. In medieval England it was occasionally used in honour of the saint, though the form Isabel (from Provençal and Spanish) was more common. It has been very popular in England since the reign of Queen Elizabeth I in the 16th century. Famous modern bearers include the British queen Elizabeth II (1926-) and actress Elizabeth Taylor (1932-).

What's this about "my god"? I'm agnostic. Whoops! :P

On the rare chance there's someone unfamiliar with this site

Aryan would be an utterly lovely female name if it wasn't for the connotations.

maybe he can just retort 'it's pronounced Shicklegruber'...;)

There are some countries that will change the name, especially names like that (somewhere in Europe, just can't remember which one)

Is that a lesbian couple with little Adolf in the picture at the top of the article?

What were the parents thinking when they named their son that? I sure would never name my kid that even though it's just a name and it won't be the real Hitler. But lot of people act like they don't know it because they discriminate against that person.

I wouldn't be surprised when the kid changes his name when he's an adult. I also bet he will be facing bullies in the future and maybe schools won't take him so the parents might be forced to change his name.

Yeah poor kid, too bad some parents never take those things into consideration when naming their kids... especially THOSE parents.

Don't confuse Hitler's silly ideals with "Aryan". Iran = Land of Aryans. North Indians call themselves Aryan too. It's the name of an ancient ethnic group which split into many ethnic groups scattered around the area, such as Persians, Gujratis, Punjabis, Sindhis, Balochis, Pashtuns, Bengalis, etc. It's mainly a historical term. Same thing with the Swastika. It denotes the winter solstice. It's a religious symbol for Hindus, Zoroastrians, Jains, some Shamanists, and some Buddhists. That's all. It's not an icon of facism.

Peace.

Isn't "Adolfo" still a common name in South and Central America?

Those kids are going to be bullied, ridiculed, and abused beyond belief. Are the parents mentally sane? *clicks the link looks at the picture of them* Okay, no they don't look sane.
The article doesn't mention whether or not they have the same views as Hitler. With names like that, one can only assume they do. I Think it's despicable to Name your kids something like that. They obviously aren't quite right in the head and they need to be professionally checked out.

Yeah, but that's obviously not what the parents meant, especially not when you consider the girl's middle name.

I actually know little girls named Aryan and they have parents like these people.

I suspect these children will grow up to be just like mommy and daddy: Ignorant, narrow-minded and poor.
They won't get picked on- they'll more likely be the ones picking on other kids.
They won't have to worry about explaining their names to any potential employers- they'll be on disability or welfare by the time they're 18. Imagine filling out the application to McDonalds: Name: Aryan Nation Dumbashell. An employer won't even read past the name before throwing it in the garbage.
There won't be any "higher education" for these kids. I suspect a GED is the best they can hope for.
They'll do the same thing all kids do- find friends and acquaintances of like mind and I'm sure there are plenty.
They will grow up believing everything their parents tell them so they won't even question the peculiarity/offensiveness of their names. They will see it as "unique" and something that builds "character".

I wonder if there is a precedent that could get the parents charged for neglect? Afterall, the parents have all but gauranteed no future for their children.
