It's not the meaning, I have allways thought that this quote is weird and funny. But I don't get much replies here, so I thought maybe my signature was offending in some way?

Doesn't offend me I quite like it. It's probably just a coincidence if your not getting many replies. I don't really pay much attention to people signiture I'm more interested in what they have to say on the subject.

It's not offensive, especially in the sense that I don't think it has anything to do with a lack of replies. That said, it strikes me as an almost direct paraphrasing of a famous Groucho Marx quote:

I would never join a club that would accept me as a member.

Yeah! You was the guy who told me so before. Did Woody steal it? He's certainly been credited for this quote many times. Also, in the post above, Gary says Mark Twain used it, and he was before Groucho Marx.

Are you thinking because of Woody's "home life"? *shrug* No. I can separate the quote from the name. Plus, as Gary points out he isn't the originator. Twain might not have been either, he's got a few quotes that weren't originally his either. Besides being able to construct them he also seemed to have a good ear for, and enjoyed repeating, quips that were good summations of the gist of complex matters.

Personally, I didn't notice your signature. Most people's signatures I don't. I'd likely not notice mine either, I put it there for the people that do notice them (I assume there is at least a few?)

P.S. You have to be careful about what conclusion you draw from a lack of direct response. Some people will toss on a "QFT" or "++" but I dislike that and refrain from it. There could be a lot of people just reading it and nodding their heads. I haven't found your posts offensive or "wrong" or anything like that at all. Certainly don't equate "no appropriate reply" to "lacking worth".

It's not offending; it's just not at all original either.

I think it's pretty funny- quite dry and funny. Not offensive at all. I never expect many replies from this forum- I'm terrible at conversations/remembering to reply to people myself so I don't expect more. xD

Just think it's a hell of a good phrase, from the first time I heard it, I loved it. And no, I was not thinking of Woodys private life, but simply the fact if I lived by the rule, I would not be here at all. It's just that I find this phrase so heavenly crazy.
But now, It's all wrong, cause several different names has been dragged into it.

I remember it from an interview with Groucho Marx. It has become cliché. Once you've heard a joke several dozen times, it's no longer interesting. Thus the yawn.

Your's great. I like some madness in the world. I'm a movie addict and love the Woody Allen movies. He's got the kind of humour that I like. I also like Jim Carrey, he's not at all that different from Woody, If you look a bit close.
