I'm very curious to know. I changed mine once, from quoting a phrase from another person, to something I actually said myself.
My story; After a night on the town and following nachspiel, I got real drunk and passed out. My buddies had to carry me home, and after they had put me in bed, they stood in front of my bed, concidering if it was safe to leave me. Suddenly, I sat up in the bed and uttered this rather complexed sentence, concidering my state; "I don't pay any attention to you, standing there, thinking you are in control, cause I am in control". Then I just passed out again. This sentence has become some kind of a legend where I live. Ppl use it like a say, when they know they actually have lost control.

^Eheheh, nice story. Friends of mine still remember me bellowing a bunch of crap about me walking a straighter line that Johnny Cash. Being drunk and all, that was a major accomplishment you see.

Kind of on the same lines of keeping control, when in fact all control has been lost. Not a good way to be, in my opinion.

First line, because I'm grateful for having life, the life I have.

Second line, taken from Gnarls Barkley song, "Crazy," and really epitomizes every stage of my life, I'm not in control, even though I thought I was at every step...

Third line, because I have no diagnosis that I know of, though I believe I might have had one as a small child. My mother refuses to talk, and I can't seem muster the motivation to find out.

Agree, that was an easy one. Why I'm asking is that there certainly is a lot of strange ones here. And I will love to hear about how..etc. The plain and simple ones are interesting too.

I had two in the past AFAIK.

The first one was "Aspergers, Autistic, PDD-NOS. Who cares what diagnoses I have, it's just a f*****g label" then it was later turned to the same sig but minus the 'f' word. I never did a change to it but one of the mods must have removed that word.

Reason why I had it because I got so sick and tired of people saying someone doesn't AS for various reasons and people saying someone can't be on the spectrum because of some of the things he or she can do or what they have. So I stuck it in my sig for everyone to see.

I had a sig with a url to a political website which was fact check because I wnated people to know the real facts between Obama and McCain because there is so much propaganda. I didn't care who people were supporting, I just got sick and tired of people believing the ads on TV or believe in what they hear on the news or what they read in the paper. Finding the truth in politics is hard and it's very difficult to know what to beleive and what not to beleive. So I had the url and saying what the place is because the election was coming up. Then I took it off because it's passed now so the sig was now useless.

Now I have no sig right now. I think I will use Benny and Joon quotes.

Okay I have just added the signature.

The first one is one of my favorite quotes from the movie. I remember using it in school and I sure had a kick out of the kids not understanding it and them saying it doesn't make any sense. I told them "Welcome to my world. Now you know why I ask so many questions and why I have troubles understanding what people mean."
But when I first heard that phrase in the movie, I understood it despite the literal picture in my head. I didn't get confused or anything. I knew what she meant. But the other kids, they didn't understand it. What gives? They weren't aspies.

The second one I like and I am not sure why. When I first heard that line, I thought how sick Joon is and no wonder she can't be left alone. Lighting things on fire. I see her do it in one scene in the movie but I think she did it to drive Benny crazy. She was looking at him when she dropped the Kleenex and got up and Benny had to stamp it out (it his the lit candle and it ignited) and Joon just looked at him and stuck her nose in the air as she went in her art studio.

I like the third line for some reason. I don't understand it but it's Benny & Joon. Sam is making grilled cheese with an iron and it was the only line in the scene she said. Then of course in the next scene, Joon is tucked in her bed and Benny comes in and they talk about him making grilled cheese. Then they sing a song and it shows a flashback of the car wreck their parents died in and and then it shows Benny again in the current time and he says "Good night" and Joon says it back and he leaves her room.

I might keep changing my B&J sig because I can't use all of them in one sig.

I like it, cause I like movie quotes(I'm a movie junkie) and I like good explanations. Also like your post above, about politics. I value politicians and their promises less than I value an obscure car salesman who tries to sell you a rotten car. Sadly enough, ppl don't seem to know or care about the fact that they get screwed big time by those motherf***ers, over and over again.

Describes my ASD-ness and how other people experience me due to the language and behavioural differences well.

I keep saying 'no' and don't care about doing favours, changing opinions and the such - I think my sympathy is at a 0 there - but since I am so 'odd' people keep pushing me. Right until I get back at them usually, it's a shame it has to go so far.

Makes no sense to me that people try - a 'no' has forever been a 'no' with me.

No doesn't mean yes does it... or maybe it does for others when you're autistic?

Didn't know there was a quote like that before I found this one.

my signiture about asperger's is pretty self explainatory.. but the phrase 'Memento Mori' is latin meaning 'remember that you are mortal'.
I love latin. I found this phrase from one of the songs by my favourite band, Kamelot. They had two concept albums based on the Faust story and Memento Mori just struck a cord. I think it's a beautiful phrase and in a way I kind of relate to Faust because I love philosophy and always questioning my existance etc... and Faust becomes so involved in learning about the meaning of life that in a way, you almost forget that you are mortal. It's hard to explain.
Memento Mori. I love it. I want it on m grave stone lol :-)

I love latin too, and can relate to your phrase. I always think, and sometimes say, that about ppl that are disgustingly rich. And

I got a chain of stories leading up to my nick and signature: when I was in my 20's and the lead singer of band, my friends would call me "Tåge" which means "The Fog". The bass player then wrote a song for me called "Out There In The Fog", the first lines going:

Out there in the fog, the king is a frog
waiting for his princess... etc

Later, when the band dissolved, I was deeply fascinated with the movie "Fisher King" and looked for a way to incorporate the term "King" in my new band's name. However the band broke up before we even performed a single gig.
A girlfriend I had at the time then said "oh, you're always so solemn.." when we broke up our relationship.

Years later I started a solo project in my own studio and I found it obvious to call myself "King Solemn" thinking there's a good portion of self irony in there.

And then recently, at the age of 44, I was dx'ed with AS, which imo only added to the depth and irony of that name.

Hope I made sense here.. :king:

Off cause I understand, almost too good. I also was in a band back in the 80's. In Norway we say tåke, but as an scandinavian I understand other scandinavian languages quite well, except for your danish way of counting; halv fjers, en tress, and so on.
Otherwise I'm good.

Mine would hopefully be self-explanatory as well.
It is simply the full botanical classification for genus Acacia,
Which happens to be my username.
I chose Acacia, because these trees have so many endearing qualities to me.

As to WHY I use all of this Latin plant-lingo...
This is a good example of what happens in my head when I am around anything plant-related.
Let's say I'm out driving. I look around at the landscape passing by. Every tree/bush/plant of any kind is run through a taxonomic register in my mind... I almost involuntarily classify every plant that I see.

Of course, this stuff was one of my first hints that I might have Asperger's. Apparently not everyone is so obsessed with plants that they cannot help but scientifically organize every single one they are around.

My Acacia farnesiana is in full bloom right now, come to think of it...
