my deepest sympathies go out to you. My own grandfather died a few years ago and I didn't know him to well until he came to live with us. During that time he taught me about personal strength and willpower like noone could. He knew his emphsema was caused by smoking so he said no more left a half empty pack of cigarettes next to him and never smoked again. He was very ill but survived through alot of breathing problems as well as problems with his heart. Hes one of the people that majorly influenced who I am today.

I am so sorry for you, nightbender. Your emotions can be all over the place on this one. Just remember, you can comfort others by allowing others to comfort you. Nothing will comfort you, of course, but if you remain open to others, it can comfort them.

Merle

Please accept my condolences. I never knew my grandfather. He passed away years before I was born.

I'm so sorry, nightbender. I hope that the ache of your loss
eases soon into a sense of peace. And know this: it does not
matter whether or not you had time to tell him how much you loved him.
He knows it. He's probably always known, and if he didn't before,
he does now. For death is not an end - it's a passage to a different
plane of existence. Some people call it Second Birth.

I'm so sorry.

He sounds a bit like my grandfather. Others seemed relieved to have him gone, so I couldn't really ever grieve openly. He had been the only person who'd really 'gotten' me and seemed to think I was worth the time of day.

If you feel comfortable sharing more about your grandfather, I'd be interested in reading it.

Nightbender, my heart goes out to you on the loss of your grandfather. I can only imagine how you must feel right now.

There is no right way or wrong way to grieve.

But while he was alive he knew your potential and had faith in you. So he knew then that it would happen. Maybe he can't be standing beside you now in the flesh, but maybe now he is watching over you, proud of you.
