if you see the members list (bottom left) you will see that the members currently logged on are numbered. currently i am #4 and my arch rival is #1. Which, if you could understand my competitive drive you would know, is completely unacceptable.

How does the numbering system work?
is is click count for that session.
is it time logged on for the entire session.
post count for session.
what, what determines the batting order?

Why do you care?
I don't know how it happens. Sometimes when I log on I am number one and then it changes. Most times I am around 17 or so.
I take note of the number because I have some obsession with numbers.
Today I am number 62 which is twice a prime. 52 is four times a prime. 42 doesn't break down to a prime until you get down to 7. 32 is much worse - have to get down to 2 for that. 22 is better and 12 goes back to 2.

Um different kind of preoccupation with numbers....

I was at number 02 once....

I wonder if alex's secret algorithm is hacked up so that no one can see themselves in the 01 spot.

If you have seen yourself in the 01 post, please post here ASAP!! !

First, i am going to find out what algorithm means so if it is spelled incorrectly, please fix.

secondly, i am going to use every uncommon talent i posses and i will figure it out.

thirdly, nice to notice that neuroman and i are available at the same time. Unfortunately i have to leave, taking the kiddo's shopping for their momma.
But, i offer Nueroman a challenge, i will crack the code before you do. But no cheating, you cannot begin for three hours, since i cannot compete until then.

incidently, whilst shopping i am in the market for a new cordless phone w/ two handsets. does anybody have any advice. in particular, one that will not interfere with my wireless network.

Even if i do buy, i have no problem taking it back, so advice will be helpul until Dec 22. Since i refuse to go out into the MAD MAD WORLD on the 23 or 24.

Namoken offered,

Then your day is complete, you have learned something new.

I would suggest that you could go back to bed now, if it wasn't for all that speed.

Good grief.

I'm curious to how it works and all ... but I'm too lazy to go and figure it out. ;)

If you really want to then I guess thats your choice. But still. What's the point really? I don't seem to get it.

Wooyayhooplah and myself starting some gloating threads on this a while ago. If you're interested for past winners then I think they were titled "WooyayNumberOne" and "Online Now".

Currently the winner is hecate

Your prize can be collected from Alex whenever you feel like it

It's not being #1, it's being #21 that counts.

Trust me, I've having a whale of a time over here!

If nobody else knows how it works or what the numbers mean, the ranking useless. Why not sort them alphabetically? Would save processor time on the server, leaving time for more features. Like searching in personal messages or something like that ;)

Let me guess... You just shuffle them randomly... ;)

Hey Alex....

If someone attempts and succeeds in solving the algorithm, do they get a prize?

Does it really matter? Eh, but my guess on how Alex programmed it would be that it has something to do with the amount of time the person's been online.

I've been number one a number of times.
easier to find my name there.
Number 6 is most important.
Yesterday number 62 was most important. It changes every time I log on.
