You ever find that when you watch a certain movie or talk to a person, you not only echo their speech, but to an extent, you echo their behavior?
When I talk to someone, I sometimes find myself mimicking their mannerisms such as picking up someone's habit of jiggling their leg or twirling their hair around their finger.

For example, when I watch "House", for a while afterward, I find myself walking with a bit of a limp. No joke.

Occasionally, yes. Mostly I'll pick up accents, but some mannerisms as well. After a while they'll go away. Some of them I can call back at a later date too. Loads of fun.

I do that too, I sometimes feel like I'm a different person depending on who I'm with because I somewhat alter my behaviour to match theirs, or I'll pick up some of their habits and adopt them as my own for a while. Most of the time it's not on purpose, it's like I don't really know how to just be myself. It makes it harder to hang out with more than one friend at a time though because then I'm even more confused as to how I should be, so I'm usually pretty quiet.

I also do it with tv and movies sometimes if I like the way an actor says something it sticks with me and I'm always looking for a moment to use it in my own life.

I used to do this big time with movies. After sitting there for hours and being immersed in that world, it was hard for me to realize that it wasn't how real life actually is :P

For example if I had seen a spy movie, I would have the urge to creep around and peek around corners. If I had seen a superhero movie I would feel like I had super powers .. ect.

i am an ace mimic. this is how i feel close to people and also animals.
if i get a vid of someone i will play it back over and over hundreds of times and copy it down to the last mannersism. i do it mostly with people who mean somethng to me and are not just the walking dead. i will say the words and mannerisms and it is actually like a drug for me. best feeling in the world. if i do this with someone in my life, this is the GREATEST honour.

nearly every conversation i have with people is prepared in my head and practiced. (people beyond the home.)

after conversing wtih people, i will spend all the return trip in the car talking their words, their inflections and running over the exchanges for hours trying to figure it out and also just mimicking aspects of it.

this has always been a huge part of me.
it is so frigging important as it makes me feel connected to people in a way i cannot by using more NT methods.

I find I only echo things in my mind, although I might do some visible non verbal mimicing, but I don't know because I have never noticed.

I've done this more after playing games than movies, and only noticeably after playing Splinter Cell. As I was walking around I was looking for shadows to hide in, lights I could shoot out, etc...

I do however use phrases and mannerisms that people around me use, sometimes without noticing it. It doesn't happen immediately, it's more like it becomes part of my library of responses and mannerisms.

I do this too... even in social situations. On the language side, I have a stock of phrases that I use, depending on my company.

Mostly the physical mimicking occurs after watching television or movies.

haha I do that when I'm watching films and programs, it's like I become the character, and even with people in real life if there's someone that says certain phrases I start saying them and talk just like them. but I do it subtly though.

I used to, but not so much now. I have echolalia in my head.. whenever someone says something that gets my attention I will repeat it in my head. I guess over time I had to learn to do that.
