Service dogs, how to get your dog 'officially' certified.

I'm in Australia. I'm wondering what people's experience is of this process, I'm struggling to find any info on how to go about it, except for one website which requires 6 months of dog training and this is for very specific tasks related to specific disabilities etc etc etc.

I've had them since pups, they are 'trained' by me, so is there an easy way?

What services do your dogs perform for you?

Well i'm socially isolated, they provide me with a sense of security, a fur family, a clan, someone who is happy to see me and greets me when i come home and they accompany me on outings... I don't have any friends or social life or job/study.

other than that they keep me in the 'here and now' in terms of having to care for another creature and that stops me drifting off into navel gazing or daydreaming. they taught me how to be patient (an important social skill).

I don't know what else, it's quite hard to quantify what one's dogs do for one.

I think the question was what exactly do you want to have the dogs certified to 'do'. I also have a aussie shepards that are smarter than most humans but they are not speficifcally trained to do anything in particular except cook diner, do the wash, feed the cats, fetch the mail, read me a story and bite burglars.

i would like to know this as well but I am in the us so it may be different

I remember someone tried to get me certified, it didn't work!

scary! and hairy! that's an unusally long coat.

gary, it's a really good idea to resize your photos (in terms of pixels or whatever they call it) so that they load quickly, there's some free photo editing programs around. i only have slow broadband and some people are still on dial up.

I pretty much think that diaup people suck hind tit and deserve the agony they have to endure but that's just my personal opinion which nobody asked for. She's a big dog so the picture is big. I once posted a picture of my dick and it was small so the picture was small. Everything is relative and temporary and this post will be forgotten in exactly 55 minutes.

Garyww, I think your dog is pretty, especially in its face and the pattern in the coat. Its eyes seem intelligent, too.

I don't know HOW to get him certified, but authorities would most likely only care about the keeping you in the here and now aspect, I'd list it first, if not alone while trying to get some sort of certification.
