Lightwave to make the animation scenes and iMovie to put the scenes together.

I'm planning on creating my own cartoons in the future; there's a 2D computer animation program called Toon Boom that is really easy to use; it costs a lot of money but you could search for it on ebay if you wanted to do 2D and 3D animation.
