I've been thinking lately. And I've decided how I'm different. I've come up with this:

I'm WIndows 95. The rest of the world is Windows Vista. While they're all connected and running the same programs, I'm left in the dark. I can't run those programs and decode the codes sent to me.

Do I sound crazy? I feel I may be alone in this. But I just had to tell you all my self discovery.

Any comments are welcome and thanks for taking time to read this.

That works for me. There are lots of ways to say it.

My way: Our dog likes to go out, and not only for the basic necessities that humans can appreciate. He needs to move around and sniff at stuff. We call it “checking his Pee-mail.”
I figure he is exercising the biggest part of his brain. I don’t need to understand why this bush is more fascinating than that one and I trust his superior judgment in such things. His experience is not the same as my experience. In contrast, I like to sit and look at a computer screen for hours on end. The tiny, squiggly marks form ever-changing patterns that are meaningful to me and are a source of endless fascination. I don’t expect the dog to share my joy in the computer, and he doesn’t ask me to sniff the telephone poles. Still, we get along. We don’t need to share everything.

Another one is about a diver meeting a cuttle fish. There's a curiosity, an intelligence, a moment of "what are you," but there's no way to connect. No common ground.

I'm sure everyone on this WrongPlanet has an image or analogy.

Maybe we're running Windows while everyone else is running Mac OS :)

If everyone else is running on Vista I pity them if anything.

Then I pity all of them, having few games to enjoy, even if they can network better.

Naaa - I'd say more like we got a linux, open source, its all logical and clear version - rather than a Micro$oft, well there's a few bugs, and don't really make much sense, but we'll make lots of money anyway version - installed as our OS

I just associate it with Windows 95 and Vista because I know the two so I could see a connection. Or rather just an analogy. ^^

I'll go for Linux! It explains why I have an easier time communicating with my computer than other people.

Have you SEEN vista? BLOATED! The "aero interface" is RIDICULOUS! The PERFECT EPITOME of FORM OVER FUNCTION! They have to ALWAYS ask permission, and aren't compatible!

MEANWHILE, Win95 IS simple, by comparison, and lacks some features, but has OTHER features, is LESS bloated, etc....

Frankly, I think I am UNIX to their VISTA. And GUESS WHAT! I work with UNIX a LOT! Teradata, Netezza, Solaris, SUN O/S, AIX, LINUX, ULTRIX, HP-UX, I have worked with ALL of them.

I'm more like msdos 3.3. Old, but mostly functional if you give me the right input. ;)

That's a really great discovery. It's a pithy little catch phrase you can keep in your pocket until just the right moment. And it's not even one of those obscure refrences that only us Aspies get. Everyone can understand the meaning. Bravo!

Speaking of obscure refrences, I'm about to throw one out. Your discovery is kind of a modern day version of a very famous joke. Probably a good thirty years ago, a comedian named George Gobal was a guest on the "tonight show" which at the time was hosted by Johnny Carson. George spoke one of the funniest lines in that show's history when he said:

"Do you ever feel like life's a tuxedo and you're a pair of brown shoes?"

Your discovery strikes me very much like that little joke. Good one! :D
