Someone just called me a liberal socialist because of my view that most autistics do not want to be cured.

Politically, yeah, I'm very liberal but I think liberal and conservative aspies can come together on THIS point!

I didn't like his impression of my politics brought up as an insult. I think a Republican could have made the same video. The first commentator on the video actually was a Republican friend of mine, and he liked it.

Thank you. I don't know why I got a touch hypersensitive about that comment, but I did.

It's like, don't insult me by telling me a fact about my politics when that fact has nothing to do with the fact that

MOST OF US DO NOT WANT TO BE CURED

and people of almost every political viewpoint feel that way.

I thumbed down their remark. I'm not sure why being a liberal socialist is bad though. I consider myself to be one. Well, at least most of the people I know consider themselves to be it, and our views and beliefs are in synch.

I don't think "liberal socialist" itself is much of an insult. I'm Canadian, though, so arguably I come from a mildly socialist nation anyway.

That commenter obviously thought it was an insult, but this is not much different from, say, some redneck calling a mildly left-wing person a pinko or whatever. He just doesn't use the dysphemisms.

Funny how he says "no one believes this"; every pro-cure youtuber I've encountered has the same attitude--'anti-cure types are a puny and irrelevant minority.' People like that tend to treat their own word as law.

Anyhow, I favourited your video because it's good and I seem to be on an anti-cure video/information binge lately.

That just goes to show that logic is a part of a liberal position as much as a conservative one. I don't want to provoke an argument. I'm here to try to unite viewpoints right now. But still, to reduce liberals to "feelers" is an overgeneralization, backed up by the number of ultra-logicals here who are liberal.

And back to the discussion of why we do not want to be cured..

I am a capitalist, and I disagree with liberals and conservatives.

Capitalism makes socialism possible.

There is no cure. So I do not want to be nothinged.

all i know is your vids were really helpful to me prior to my dx in 2008.

and i don't want to be cured.

(i had years of therapy trying to frigging cure me and it did more harm than good. )
