Nice thing about being an Evangelical is that I got good social support and "friends" from my bible study.
It can be pretty socially close-knit.

As an Aspie I liked the debating part, like Jesus, liar, lunatic or Lord? Evolution v.s Creationism.
Biblical truth v.s relativism, pro-life abortion politics.

There's a lot of killing going on in the bible.

I eventually became an agnostic.
I don't believe in the Bible. I regard trying to convert others to Jesus is a socially bad idea.
I don't go to church or bible study. I did visit
Unitarian Universalism. No young people there.

I do get invited to come to bible study from time to time but I refuse, I'm lonely again.

Try to meetup.com, sierraclub.com, or outdoorsclub.com. This should solve your problem

acutally it is www.sierraclub.org or outdoorsclub.org. Burning Man is good but without your location, I cannot identify where your regional is. [www.burningman.com]

I have the same issue but I have years and years in Burning Man scene plus I have AA as well because I am in recovery with a 2-year bout with alcoholism.

If you want to go, go to this camp (http://polyparadise.azcompuguy.com/). Contact the leader of that website. He is very knowledgeable and it is autistic-friendly camp

Your choice. I sometimes get invited to Fundie bible studies because I know Hebrew and Aramaic and I also know the tradition attached to material in what the Fundies call the Old Testament. So I am an information source. I never argue theology with these guys -- ever. I can do them a service without compromising myself or my principles.

Besides I take a sadistic joy in showing what a terrible translation the King James version is. It it dreadful. The Fundies think God wrote the Bible in King Jamesean Englishk.

Hey now, if the King James version was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me! (some people actually said that! -- it never ceases to amaze me how much people don't know about their beliefs)

Sticking to a religion because of social benefits is... willfully ignorant at best.

I have somewhat of a social bonding with various members of "Young Left", political engagement can really earn you some great friends. :D

Yeah the idea though behind evangelical xianity is that you're never alone and you never need to feel lonely. You have a friend in Jesus and all believers are brothers and sisters.

As for leftists, I regard feminists leftists activists protesters and proselytizing Mormons and Christians as models of what not to do socially.

Makes sense not to argue theology with them ever.

HA HA HA HA!! ! The KJV only movement is literally insane. I've heard of one person who thought that people needed to learn English to be saved. Just dreadfully hilarious on every level.

I'd like to believe in angels and miracles and an afterlife.

As I post this, this is in the news

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/church_shooting MARYVILLE, Ill. – A gunman walked down the aisle of a church during a Sunday service and killed the pastor, then stabbed himself and slashed two other people as parishioners wrestled him to the ground, authorities said.
