One of the most fun things about this site, since it has a worldwide viewership, is dealing with idiot posters who claim that they have Asperger's Syndrome or are autistic. They are easily outed if they don't stay with a thread and continue posting back and forth thru several several time cycles for at least two or three days. Normal people and other whimps actually sleep but those of us on the spectrum don't have this kind of human weakness and can stay on mark for days on end once we get a special project thing going. That's how most trolls end up getting spotted. They have to take a break and we don't.
Just one of the many wonders of being autistic.

Insomnia is a double-edged sword.

Maybe I can make it single-edged if I ingest more iron.

Insomnia is a condition, autism is a state of being so the two things cannot be compared.

I've always had autism; now, because of drugs, I'm getting some insomnia too. Sorry, I didn't really reply all that directly to your point.

Obsession is also a double-edged sword, though.

EDIT: Are you referring to anyone in particular here?

So, what you are saying is that you can determine whether a person is autistic or not by how persistently and repeatedly they post on a particular thread over a certain time period (through several several time cycles?), (for at least two or three days?). And if they don't post according to this formula they are either (normal?), (whimps?), (idiots?), or (trolls?).

Maybe they should add this to the diagnosis criteria in the DSM -IV. Please tell me you are joking. BTW, this will be my only post in this thread. Guess that makes me a poser.

I wanted to hear some more opinions and clarifications before commenting seriously on this, but...

Here's the thing: it seems you're putting forth a rather one-dimensional view of autism, unless you're joking to some degree. True, I get side-tracked by some of these things, but I can sleep if I have to. Besides, some of us (I don't know of any statistics, mind you) have busy lives; however tempting the conflict may be, we can, in many cases at least, get enough sleep to stay on top of our lives and remain mildly healthy.

At the very least I think your theory needs some examples and qualifications.

No. I'm saying that trolls usually stay on a schedule. There are autistic trolls you know. It isn't an exclusive NT disease.

Gary,

It is hard to know where you are coming from here. I have been asked several times in the past 2 years "Don't you EVER sleep????". Well, the truth is that I ALWAYS have! I remember sleeping when I was a baby, in the crib. I remember when I fell asleep in my bedroom with nothing to do because my parents were talking and the TV was there, etc.... I remember when I fell asleep on long car rides. And, of course, last night. At least I feel I MUST have slept, because I eventually wasn't concerned with falling asleep. Oh well, it is almost midnight here. I went to bed last around 1am this morning(3/10/2009), but I would like to go to bed earlier today.

OK, I admit it! Once I had almost no sleep for about 3 weeks. When I was a little kid, I often read well into the morning. Still, all good things come to an end. I'm sure YOU sleep also. Goodnight. :D

Fair enough. I've never said autistics couldn't be trolls too.

How about next time we find a troll we see what kind of schedule she/he is on? And then do the same for some after that? Eh, eh?

So me not posting back and forth to someone makes me a fake? Not this again.

Am I required to read every single post here? Am I required to keep reading a thread every time someone makes a new post in it?

I don't need to follow your rules to be genuine according to you.

Don't know where you got that idea from, but it sounds like too big a generalization to me.

This is why I wasn't sure whether or not he was joking.

I think it's we get into it so much that we just would rather do it than sleep as opposed to insomnia that most people seem to be respresenting. Like I was posting in the women's forum about Pro Life and Pro Choice, and this girl and I were into it. Our posts were like three pages each. And at one point, we had two going on at once because it got so long we halfed it out. Then she was responding to one while I responded to the other type thing. Finally, we agreed to disagree because we were letting things in life get put on hold just to argue with each other like getting the other one to agree was going to change the world. But it was something we both felt so strong about. Anyway, on lighter things, we tend to keep with it more than the NT's I think because these conversations actually do matter to us. It's like we are addicted. Anyway, I sometimes don't respond for a few days when the internet goes out for a while (which happens frequently), or when I get really busy into a special interest that doesn't include my conversation or if I decide to go on a cleaning binge for three days straight with no sleep because it needs done. Or if I just respond to so many posts that I forget which ones they all were. I try to hit up what I recognize, but I'm sure some slip through the cracks.
