To those of us who live in the UK:
Here is the website of a bunch of parents who are putting together a march, in London, to raise autism awareness:
http://www.openyoureyestoautism.com
As you can see, it is terribly medicalised, blethering about vacciness and epidemics and what not. However their Facebook page states that they are interested in getting everyone with an interest in autism on the march on whatever basis, and are aware of the big differences in opinion within the "autism community".

London Autistic Rights Movement will be turning up on the march with a leaflet and placards saying things like "ACCEPTANCE NOT CURE" and so on.
London Autistic Rights Movement will be assembling at the Temple Station at 1.30 pm.
You are all invited to come and suppot London Autistic Rights Movement in this rally.
Please bring pro-neurodiversity and/or 'autistic pride' placards.

I'll try and be there!

However just one gripe: in the video it says "every single child that has autism is one too many". GRR!

Anyway. Sounds good.

I've got a 'gripe' (not sure if I used that in grammatical context) too. Will they STOP WITH THE MMR RAVING?! I think these people need to stop trying to place blame on something to explain their child and campaign for better treatment for children and adults with autism. I would love to come along to something like this, but I can't afford to get to London... plus I'm scared of crowds, loud noises and pigeons...

^ How newsworthy could it have been?

Were it not for this thread, I'd not know about it at all!

Marches don't seem to carry the weight they used to.
