I've had a few phases through college with long and short hair. I'm not sure which one is supposed to look better. I somehow felt more attractive with long hair, but conventional wisdom appears to suggest I'd be better off having it short. That said, I never noticed any increase in positive attention (from girls or otherwise), just no more random people on the street telling me to get a haircut. Also, I notice more women who claim to like long hair on men than men who claim to like short hair on women.

I have no recent pictures, but here's a picture from a few years ago where my hair was at about the length it is now:

Here's one of my hair at a short length, the day after having it cut:

I'll be having my hair cut at some point, maybe at the beginning of the summer. I'm considering two options: one is to cut it short (as short as in the above "short length" picture), another is to cut it to a length just covering my ears with a view to keep it longish. Any suggestions?

Hmm, can't say I do. I usually cut my own hair - with a shaving machine...

This is what I look like when I don't:

Ugly, huh?

EDIT: The image is from 2002.

My first bf had long hair. Johnny Depp has long hair too. Shame my bf's isn't made to be long. It's made to be bushy and stick up and he looks like bozo the clown if he doesn't get it cut.

It's perfectly legitimate and can look ace. It's mainly those who grow it long and then keep it unkempt and greasy that do men's long hair wrong in its reputation. I suppose there has to be a way lads can keep it long and well-groomed without feeling emasculated.

I am the opposite. I like mine short, and prefer buzz cuts a lot of the time--but since I will be going on a lot of job interviews later this year, I have to focus on looking nice for those.

Hahah, well, I've said it once and I'll say it again, Hector, you look f*****g awesome in long hair. <3 But really, you look fine both ways.

The problem you may encounter is that many women -- at least the ones I know -- go far more by personality, anyway. And if you're targeting more physically attractive women in the first place, chances are they're more likely to 'reject' you. Women are picky.

You'd catch my eye very quickly, actually. But thereafter, I'd realize there are things that just wouldn't work with me, and I'd leave it at that. So, coming from a 'rejector,' I can say you have nothing actually wrong with you in any department, I'm just picky about who I'm going to bed down with. It has to be just perfect for me.

Same with lots of guys I've met, including my now-ex. He's very good looking, has a great personality, but we only work as friends. He's way too logical for me to fit with in any 'romantic' sense, but my god do we hit it off in other ways.

But, seriously, keep the long hair. And take some more pictures, they're demanded. ROCK ON. MORE CURLS.

EDIT: Speaking of curls, my boyfriend's hair is definitely really much better longer, I think. The problem is that it has a major multiple personality disorder, and it's also out of control most of the time so that he has to wear it up. But, as luck would have it, man-tails are also very nice looking.

It really fits him. Long hair looks very natural, and gives a visual impression of confidence, I personally think. It also shows that men can manage to be well groomed without needing to cut it all off, and they're up to the challenge of taking care of themselves. In a way, it's a hell of a lot like the feathers on a male bird who displays to all the female. It definitely works on a lot of women.

Holy crap, you look quite a bit like one of my favourite electronic musicians. You don't do music, do you? :D

Mario (lol), I still need to see you with long hair. You've certainly talked about it enough. Do you look like one of those South American tanned hunks with flowing dark hair and brown eyes that say, "I'll love your soul forever"?

THE CORRECT ANSWER IS YES. Either way, make good use of that webcam, I really need to see this, preferably without terrifying faces, thanks.

Hey let the fro hang low, bro!

No, seriously, I think long hair looks really cool on certain guys. Besides that, I listen to a lot of thrash and power metal, and everyone has long hair and it looks cool. So stick to whatever makes you feel good.

Geezus, I'm not my boyfriend, I promise. :D Much as I'm all for loving yourself, I'm actually nowhere near as good-looking.

Kenny G.? Maybe the hair in the one picture, but not beyond that. Everyone says he looks like a young Orlando Bloom. He gets that all the time, actually.

LISTEN
right before my last haircut, it was at my longest, and this is true:

when i was little, i had a NIGHTMARE, where i looked in the mirror, and saw an image of a grown-up me, with long womans hair.
freaked me the f**k out

i saw THAT image in the mirror. an actual nightmare from childhood, came true.
i was once again totally freaked out :(
