Is it uncommon for aspies to be interested in dance and take classes in dance such as ballet, jazz and hip-hop. Is it something you've been obsessed with? I started taking ballet when I was 25 and then about 3 years ago i started jazz & hip-hop too.
I think that perhaps the social and technical aspect of dancing can be distressing to some ASD folk. In general though I enjoy dancing and learning to control and contort and move my body in a number of differing ways. It is also not uncommon for ASD related individuals to enjoy moving in non conventional ways and dance I feel can be very non conventional.

ive pretty much always been obsessed with dance except now that i passionately despise classical ballet-i really love contemporary ballet, modern and aerial/circus arts but never taken class for contem. ballet only classical, taken limited modern classes and zero circus/aerial.b/c of money im planning on getting back in shape so i can return to dance.it makes me really happy. no lie, dont feel like a total loser in class.heck,i even smile sometimes!which is huge considering im shy AND have AS.
Welcome to Wrong Planet! If it makes you happy and doesn't harm others my motto is to go on enjoying what you do.
