i could do it all day.

alllllll dayyyyyy... i probably have done that, too.

at the moment i actually own 4 of the toothbrushes in the house, my sister and parents own the other 3. i carry one of them with me in a little toothbrush case, there are 2 around my room and desk, and one in the bathroom. it's just such a satisfying sensation. like the crisp breakage of cool chocolate..

and it leaves your teeth smooth and non-plaque'd.

have just spent the last 20 minutes absently brushing my teeth (no toothpaste) - not scrubbing, just jiggling the way dentists say you should.

on the other hand, if i need to go to sleep really soon but haven't brushed my teeth, the moment i get in bed i will feel guilty and start worrying about my teeth decaying in my sleep, and a minute later i'll probably jump out of bed and get out the toothbrush.

is this an OCD random thing with cleanliness (i DO like being clean, carry hand sanitiser round with me etc), or - heaven forbid - stimming? anyone else love toothbrushing?

:D

I can't say I do, no. It does sound a bit obsessive, though there's nothing wrong with that as long as it doesn't get in the way of more important things, right?

The dentists came into my school to give some information, and AFAIK you're only suppose to brush 2 times a day for 2 minutes a day, or it's too excessive.
But, I do like brushing my teeth, I probably brush them around 3 times a day.

I do but its because my teeth are really sensitive and it feels good to brush them - especially with sensitive teeth toothpaste. :D

Just be super careful you always use soft bristles or you could mess up youe enamel.

No more so than regular I suppose. I brush in the morning and just before bed, I like to make sure my teeth feel spotless, I also floss every day, but I find when I try to scrub my wisdom teeth it quite often makes me gag which is rather unpleasant.

I do! Without toothpaste, just cold water. I agree it feels refreshing and satisfying. :D Like a mouth massage. It really wake up the gums! :)

Isn't that kind of like saying a laptop is rather OCD about using batteries or w.e?

Laptops aren't alive, therefore they can't have OCD.

It feels and tastes good if you get the right toothpaste, but I just do it twice a day.

I'm obsessed with making sure they're clean before going to bed. That's the only time when properly cleaning them is crucial. I brush twice; once before flossing and once after. I finish with a flouride rinse.
Stuff I use:
Toothbrush with extra-soft bristles.
Tom's of Maine toothpaste.
Oral-B EssentialCare floss.
Act flouride rinse.

Not particularly. I find it a routine chore.

I like the clean feeling of my mouth after brushing, which is why I brush my teeth, sides of my mouth, tongue, and roof of my mouth; then I floss, and then I use mouth wash.

But I HATE the act of brushing. I see it as a chore where I'm putting bad tastes in my mouth. But if I don't brush I'm constantly reminding myself of how nasty my mouth is and moving my tongue around. But I HATE brushing.

Mmmmmmmm Brushing my teeth. What a great feeling.

One of my best memories involves my son, asleep for the night. My wife and I in a tub of hot water, soaking and brushing our teeth at 2am. I kid you not!

Liresse, since brushing your teeth excessively like that is actually unhealthy, then I would guess that it is an OCD-like trait. You should take it down a notch and brush the recommended 3 times a day, 2 minutes per session.

It's not at all a problem to practice cleanliness, especially in this day in age where just about everyone's sharing something. Just try not to take it too far. If it helps any at all (or just grosses you out), I don't brush my teeth everyday, and I've still to this day never had a cavity. I also work at a job that requires me to smile. It's fine.

The last time I visited the dentist was in early March. I asked her directly: "Are you sure I don't have any cavities?" She said, "No." I think you'll be alright if you only brush for two-minutes long twice or three times a day.
