All of this semester, I haven't used WP at all. I hardly knew anyone in the univ. I went to, offering me a "clean slate" to gain better perspectives on things. I finally found myself loving the Author's Society group. I socialize extremely well, and aside from a little anxiety and hand flapping and other peculiarities no one notices anything too strange, let alone AS. I really haven't been as obsessed with stuff for a while, and I am listening to Kanye quite loudly. Honestly, I am enjoying this particular state and I don't wish I could be more normal or more weird.

First, I am overjoyed that you have found happiness and peace and a niche!

Second, that's not the same as 'outgrowing AS'

But your experience does point to the danger in labeling and the possible danger in getting caught up in the mindset that "I have something.... I'm less than".

In the days before there were labels, the odd people were just odd people, the eccentrics were just that and people dealt with it. Many very odd and very eccentric people found their niches and excelled and lived wonderful lives.

What you've managed to do is shake off the label, shake off the down side, get that clean slate, get new interests that you like and are engaged in, and have found your own way. THAT is priceless and I congratulate you!

The task is to find where, with our unique traits and imperfections, we fit in the greater whole.

This is a task for every one who is emerging into the Greater.
Every human being.

Perhaps you have found where it is you fit-!! !

Isn't that just a wonderful thing? That's the best we can all hope for - to find where we fit!

Read 'Look Me In The Eye' by John Elder Robison - the magic about his book and his life is that he found where he fit. THEN being an Aspie was a great help, not a problem.

Well, since I ditched this site for a while, still intend to lol. Being addicted to this site for a while probably made me "caught up in the mindset". Everything in moderation.

You are emerging, you are climbing.

Breaking through the overcast into the clear air and the Sun.

Keep going.

Don't Look Back.

I've found WP taught me how to balance out my AS with the NT world. I learned around others where I could never think 'but they don't know.w.w.w.w what it is like'. Because other members on WP did, and from it I grew myself.
