Do solicitors cheat on aspies? I have had a number of solicitors that have given me erroneous information & advice. Having complained to the legal ombudsman they say that the solicitors were right, but now I find the Legal Ombudsman was wrong but it wont go back and investigate the cases again. ("Nothing to do with us, the investigations are now closed")

In my view the Legal Ombudsman has technically given solicitors a free pass to take the p*** out of us aspies. Is there any way that (at least in the UK) that we can have some sort of legal service or legal support that does what it says on the box without going into long monolouges and discourses and saying the law says this or that, and then essentially turning round and showiing us that they dont practise logic, they p*** on logic, they bend the truth.

The fact is I DONT want to bend the truth. I want it presented as it is - the truth - the facts -because it is others who are bending it (in the cases of the abuse and discrimination that I have faced) and I want it presented as it is to show that I know where I am coming from and that I am right when I see the injustice being meted out to myself (and to others as well) and that this is how justice should work.

No.

They are prone to cheat anyone and everyone.

Here in the USA, I had an issue with a former employer. I pursued the matter with the state agency that handles discrimination issues. After a couple years of hearing nothing, I contacted a local lawyer who specialized in such issues.

She told me with no hesitation that state agencies (and the federal EEOC) have no interest in helping those who file complaints. Even if you have the proverbial smoking gun, they do little to investigate a case...especially if the employer is another state agency. They sit on cases until evidence trails go cold then determine you don't have a case but may consider pursuing it with federal EEOC or private litigation. The only time EEOC (or the state level equivalence) makes a real effort to deal with discrimination issues is if there is a high-profile employer.

Coors beer did the ad campaign with the Swedish Bikini Team and that got them sued when a few women working there were offended. Wal-Mart hires disabled people who can barely do a job worth paying them for and they still were sued by the EEOC for alleged "discrimination." These agencies are looking for headlines that make them look good. If someone is actually helped in the process, then it's a bonus, but the vast majority of complaints are basically allowed to die of old age.

Becoming a lawyer anywhere in the world basically consists of getting a mandated education (which does not make you a competent attorney) and passing a mandated exam (which does not make you a competent attorney). A lot of lawyers do hatchet jobs on their own clients and while a malpractice claim/lawsuit is undesirable, the odds of one ever happening is narrow because lawyers (here in the USA) generally will not touch a malpractice case against another lawyer. What goes around, comes around, and they know it.

This does not mean that there are not good lawyers out there who will do right by you, but there are a lot of incompetent lawyers and a lot of biased lawyers who can shaft you pretty bad.

According to the law, once you make a prima facie case for discrimination, the employer must prove that they DID NOT discriminate against you. In reality, courts (in my area) rarely ever side with the victim even when they have clear proof that it happened.

That is true, they rarely side with us, despite the mountain of information and evidence that we have about our cases and the first hand discrimination we recieve. I was told my case would have an 80% chance of winning but after a while they dropped it to virtualy nil and I ws then surprised The law is an ass, it is manipulated. It is typical of the hypocrisy that NT's foist on us (and the world itself) its insane logic.

This is one reason why the U.S.A. is in such bad shape. The legislative, "Judicial," and sometimes even the executive branch are filled with lawyers. For the most part, lawyers are the scum of the earth. They twist right ruling in order to do what is best for them, and that is not necessarily what is best for their clients. A good honest lawyer is a treasure. They are truly a rare breed.

Q: What do you call 250 lawyers at the bottom of the sea?

A: A good start!
