Here is what happened to me. Someone named ango took over my channel. I am
autistic, and I got mixed up from +votsriRfAF and +votsriRfA when i was
giving ops to ango and I accidentally gave him +votsriRfAF instead of
+votsriRfA . Ango took over my channel and deopped me and banned me from my
own channel. I went to freenode and asked them for some help on dropping my
channel. So instead freenode helping me out they told me that ango would
have to be the one to drop the channel. So I got really upset about that.
I told Christel that I was going to get ango back for that, and I said it
was a promise. So a freenode staff name christel told me to stop making
threats. I said that it was not a threat that it was a promise.From there I
was k-lined. I had one bad day. I am very upset and depressed over this
whole thing. I appologize for causing you a inconvenience. I really did
not mean to give the channel to ango. I was really frustrated too. I
really did not mean to sound so terrible. I appologize to all who is
involved in this, and I want to make sure that christel gets my appologies.
This will never happen again, usually i am a very good nice person to talk
to and usually i try to help other people out. I am very sorry for how i
acted on the freenode channel. Please write me back and let me know how
long my ban will be. Thankyou for your time.

i hope that someone can get a hold of freesnode staff and help me out here.

I am sorry this happened to you. It is always so difficult to keep code straight, and I can relate to the frustration this must cause you. When we put our heart and soul into something and have another usurp it, it is always such a heart break.

I have no idea about the freesnode, though. Perhaps someone here does and might be able to help you.

To people with no background knowledge:

- Katesmith is an operator (ie sort of like a moderator if you're unfamiliar with the term) on the #wrongplanet IRC channel
- (The irc channel and the main site are pretty much independent entities these days)
- The channel is on the Freenode IRC network. This means that in order to use the network, you need to abide by their rules.
- A Freenode staffer found that katesmith was breaking one of these rules by threatening another user, and hence has permanently banned her from using the network as a result (k-lined)

My thoughts
-The k-lined was in error, she shouldn't really be banned, she is a great person
-Anyone from wrongplanet can do absolutely nothing to help
-She can get in contact with freenode staff herself via their website.

I am really sorry for threatening another user on freenode. I did not mean
to sound so bad. I really would like another chance in freenode. I am
really sad about the whole thing. Please reconsider and give me another
chance. I promise it will never happen again.

KateSmith sorry that you’re upset. However I would be good if #wrongplanet chat had somewhere else to vent, given the irc channel #wrongplanet and nothing to do with wrongplanet.net. That way there won't be constant spill over, which wrongplanet.net can not help with anyway.

Another thing is chat=constant drama. That is the truth. Forums lend themselves to some sort of focused discussion at least some of the time. Chat on the other hand is constant talking over each other, and bickering.

Solution: New IP, new username if they decide they cba to get back to you...

No wonder I can never get in the spirit of going back to pablum chat.....

Too fast, crazy, and full of drama...I can only handle so much people in my everyday life....

I am still klined from freenode. I even wrote them this letter.

I would like to be able to go back in wrongplanet, and the megaly channel, where I use to get lots of emotional support from there. I am really sad that I cant get on the channel. I really miss wrongplanet a lot. I have autism, and I need people to be more understanding toward my disability. I have people that know me really well in wrongplanet, and I need that support that I was getting.

I had been in the hospital for 5 days and the psychaitric hospital for 5 days. I am sorry about how I acted on freenode channel., but I must have went a little mental when I acted out against ango. I now feel better and I promise that that wont ever happen again. I would like to be given 'another chance on freenode'. I have been visiting freenode for years

The kline has been hard on me. I have a feeling that I will never be allowed back in freenode again. That means that I will never be allowed on wrongplanet again. I really miss the emotional support that I was getting in wrongplanet, and in the megaly channel. I had a meltdown in freenode, and ango took over my chat room, which triggered me to have a melt down. I really think that my kline is unfair. I wish someone could help me out with this matter.

Liability. If you make these threat and also to you own life, it is big a responsibility for a volunteer group to let you back in.

Here a better idea why don't you get you friends to talk to you on another irc channel or make friends here?

You need to understand a lot of the culture on ‘chat’ is extremely hyped. That is why there is much drama involved. Try to talke it with a huge pinch of salt.

freenode and wrongplanet have nothing to do with each other. I can understand their decision it makes sense.

No one here can do anything about the k-line. Freenode can't be held responsible for if you do something to yourself or someone else, and it's reasonable that they don't want that responsibility.

There are many many other networks to look at though.
