So, after reading online a bit, I have seen a number of articles that relate sexual and gender issues to autism. I myself am transexual, and recently joined an lgbt site, which is roughly 75% transexuals. Interesting to note is that the majority of the people on that site were also on the autistic spectrum (around 60%). So, now I'm curious: How many people here would be what society views as different when it comes to gender and sexuality?

Count me as one. Though I'm not to an extreme degree.

I suppose I'm somewhat transgendered. On those "is your barn more male or female" quizzes, I generally score about 70/30 the "wrong" way.
No desire to have a sex change though.

I identify as man but my brain in some aspects is more female. I'm not transexual or anything, far from. I'm happy with being a guy but thinking like a girl sometimes.

I am the opposite... MTF. I may have been born a guy, but I will never understand them... The whole male thing is so completely foreign to me.

Well, I always had trouble with who I was since the age of about 13 or 14. I fought so much with myself. Then by the time I was about 26 or 27, I just told myself, "forget it, I'm just bi".

So, I am girl. I'm not a butch or anything. I'm just me. I do not try to be really girly or really butchy.

No sex change. No desire to have a sex change. I think sometimes I think more like a guy on certian issues-and on other issues-I am way emotional.

I'm wondering how many "aspies" used to be in a fundamental baptist churches growing up and are now no longer go to any church-and identify as GLBT...I'm wondering how that kind of strict "rules" can affect someone with AS.

My very good AS-ish male friend is a "girl"...in a male body...

When I was little, I looked felt and acted like a boy....I gradually outgrew that but have always been quite a bit more androgynous than the typical girly girl...

Same here. I am male, never associated well with them. I associate better with females, only problem is I am also sexually attracted to females. This creates confusion in my mind sometimes between friend and love interest when I am becoming close to a female.

Well interesting question, but I think that sexual and gender matters have been discussed here on many occasions. From what I have read it does appear that WP has a range of people from all over society ranging from straight people, gay people, bi, asexuals and a range of other types of people.

The thing that I think is different here is that those who are in the minority are more open about it here, also I suspect that the incidence of asexuals is higher in the ASD community than it is in the NT community.

What is needed is some good research on this topic, I think that someone in Auz is doing some work on sexuality and ASDs. The problem I see is that weak and bad research is worse than none.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

50-50 split>
as a child i often acted, dressed and was mistaken for a boy, except when i was literally FORCED into scratchy, awful dresses. ( i liked to look at them and own some but hated having to wear them.)
I am happy with a female body but my brain often feels 100% pure male. At other times, female.
There is no wish for a sex change, but a clear acknowledgement I am two sexes in the one body and always have been and always will be. This was confusing for most of my life.

these days I consider it an extraordinary gift - a kind of capacity to traverse different terrains.

Well, I am passive, not into sports, etc... But I am happy with being male, certainly have at least as hard a time understanding females as any male, and my desires have been in areas that males have desires in. And frankly, I would be happy having a nice wife.

And I agree with Woodpecker. Outside of a FULL poll(that many may not answer), and first referrer records, from ALEX, and HONEST statements from people here, we can't get the answer here. I just LOVE the democrat polls taken outside of democrat functions, welfare offices, etc... and VAGUE questions that are then parsed with a DEMOCRAT view, and they say "MORE people feel as we do."! A REASONABLE poll would ask TARGETTED questions, and be asked at a place like a middle class supermarket. Someplace EVERYONE might go.

And lgbt sites are GOING to be Homosexual and/or transgender. I would almost expect it to be perhaps 50%+ transgender.

That wasn't the point... also transgendered people are quite rare compared to homosexuals statistically, this site was the exception, not the trend. The intersting thing is that this site is mostly autistic.

In that respect I am bisexual, but I am not looking for a girlfriend, as I don't want to further complicate my life with a lesbian relationship, and I am planning on a sex change, so society would view me as lesbian after the fact. But I am bi, so it really doesn't matter, I can find a man I wouldn't mind being with.

Also to note, I have already started to transition MTF. I have also changed my gender on all sites that I can without needing proof of sex change. I am just waiting to hear from my gender specialist to start the more medical aspects of transition.
