Which genre; all in all, sums up Aspergers syndrome/Autism?

*edit* Yes I mainly meant musical genres but movie genres are also ok :)

Do you mean music genre? That is a difficult question..... most of the music that I listen to that taps into my Aspie-ness is stuff that is sort of weird. Morrissey has several songs that seem to capture the essence of being an Aspie. There are also several Talking Heads songs that seem to do a good job, too. Actually.... maybe "new wave/alternative" from like the late 70's to the very, very early 90's might capture the essence for me..... but that may just be because that is the sort of music I like to listen to......

(For me, I interpret your question as movie genre)

AS is a Comedy. I used to think it was a Tragedy, but after study of the elements I'm sure it's one big fat Comedy.

The protagonist finds themself in a world where the overwhelming majority thinks one way, but they think a different way
The protagonist is gifted with an above average IQ and memory so as to have maximum opportunity to figure out a way to fit in
The protagonist finds it impossible to fit in perfectly in spite of years of focus and travail. Hilarity ensues.

In my day they copied this idea and called it Mork & Mindy.

Excuse me, but could someone point me to where I can get a laugh track? Nanoo-nanoo, baby.

I am leaning towards the "tragic comedy" genre. The "fool" seems to always be one step ahead of everyone else.

I don't think any genre of music does, since music is open to interpretation by the listener.

I was more or less trying to say something like that in my previous post when I mentioned that the genre of music that I chose was really more of an "era" and that most of what I was thinking of was a matter of personal choice. I couldn't really articulate what I meant, however.

Now that we are thinking movies..... I would have to say that we are something in the "cult film" category because not everyone "gets us"..... Probably something of a dark and tradgic comedy.......

Movies: Suspense/Thriller

If I had to compare a music genre to Asperger's I'd say progressive rock. Like the Aspie clique, Prog is pretty much an eccentric and niche genre of music that's often shunned by the NT masses...

There's no right or wrong. For example if you look at my music library, it's full of hard rock and metal. So you really can't define the one genre for an aspie. I'm not saying that because I'm the only one that likes different music, there's heaps of people out there with AS that have simular music taste to me.

But I do agree that Thriller/Suspense films are the appropriate genre.
