I feel like the world is passing me by. I feel like an old man staring out my window as the young people are out enjoying their lives. The problem is that I'm only 19.

Your profile mentioned Scouting. I did that a bit in the '50s, but didn't find it as engaging as Cub Scouts.

If Scouting why not something else?

Sort of. But I feel I am much younger than I am and in a few ways older. Most things I don't really care that I don't do them, but a few things I want to do. Like I have no desire to go out to night clubs/pubs etc. But I want to do things like sports with friends(well with anyone, I'm not fussed really) but there never is anyone (I don't exactly have friends).

I don't follow. What are you saying?

Why do you feel like this at 19?

More mature/older than some people my age in that I do not constantly make reckless life decisions (excessive drinking, partying, etc), but simultaneously much less mature/younger emotionally.

I have always felt like I am older than I actually am. I think that is because my wiring is similar to that of an older person's brain (45-50 appx). A lot of times I feel like I will finally fit in with my peer group and my body will be the same age as my brain when I am 50. Like I said, it might be because of wiring? I'm not sure.

I feel that way. I'm not able to do a lot of stuff kids my age do. I sit and watch other kids play like an old man in a rocking chair. I see my life being the same when I'm 70 as it is now. Maybe that's why I get told how mature I am.

I can relate to that part, but I feel much younger than I am. It's like time is out of control, like I'm a younger version of myself suddenly realizing that it's 2014 and just where did the last 20 years go? I have no idea how I got to this year. The days don't go by that quickly but the years fly. I could have sworn I was just heading towards my 20's. I wasn't looking forward to it, it made me feel old. 20 sounded so old, the end of life! Sounds funny now, but that's how I felt. It's been more than 17 years.

I'm just bored I guess. All my best friends live far away and I see them only once every few month if I'm lucky. I try to make new friends but I don't like most people.

I kind of believe in the whole "time flies when you're having fun" thing. So, if you're bored all the time and time seems to go slowly, then you might feel older than you really are because you feel like more time has passed than what actually has.

As a child and teenager I definitely felt older, which made me feel "left behind" a bit, like Butterfiend and Ezra said. As an adult I don't feel older anymore. If anything, I feel a bit younger than I actually am - which also makes me feel "left behind" sometimes. Ironic, huh?

FMX: The link in your signature doesn't work. I think it's because you have httpS://. Maybe, try removing the "S", and see if it works.
